OOC: Good point.
"That's what I don't like about the other staff. No one is willing to take action for something they believe in unless it becomes necessary. I'm tryin to keep it from becoming necessary." Kite yelled as he punched the wall leaving a large gash.

"If you don't believe in the staff then believe in R.D.," Alasea pleaded, "He can overcome what's out there. He's done it before!"

"I know very well what he's capable of, but don't mistake man for God," Kite said, "And even if he was a God, there comes a time when all Gods must fall. If Gods can fall, what's to stop man?"

"And there comes a time, Kite. Where you have to trust your allies. I feel Rua is the most capable warrior in our group, and if something were to take him out this quickly, nothing is stopping him from taking you, or any of us out if we were to try and assist him. Besides, its been less than ten minutes, its an insult to pride to if you lose hope this easily and figure he needs help. Alasea knows the man the best, let's trust her judgement in his strength.
"And whether you like things about the staff or not, it doesn't change anything. The staff makes decisions that sacrifice and if you can't see that then perhaps you don't deserve the title. I trusted Blane's judgement when he was an administrator, but don't make me lose faith in his reasoning now," the Master Chief said all of this quickly and sternly. It was imperative Kite did not do something rash and risk the rest of them.

Silence reigned among the group after Master Chief's final statement, and Alasea spent it looking out for any of sign of Rua. About five minutes later, the group could hear the sound of feet crunching through snow and cracked ice, at a steady pace towards the buried tower. The group waited anxiously, but then the door swung open, allowing an armored figure through the threshold, covered in snow.
"Blasted Nightmares," Rua muttered, brushing snow off of his form as the visor slid back into the confines of his helmet, "Always causin' me problems."
Alasea let out a sigh of relief, then quickly ran over to him and threw her arms around the green-eyed warrior, who gratefully returned the hug. "Well, told you I'd be back, didn't I?"

Kite thought to himself, No, there's no way that something that could be defeated that easily is behind this...we're missing something.

The Master Chief nodded to Kite, even if they disagreed on many things, they both had to agree something was slightly out of place if a nightmare could be destroyed so easily. The staff needed updates on Rua's abilities. Even though there was no penalty to gaining power for Rua, it was still a good idea to have knowledge of it.
On another topic altogether... nightmares? Out here? Was this monster allied with the netherworlds? Or was the glitch getting stronger? There was only one way to find out, and that was to ask, "Rua, for our group's sake, and possibly something larger. I need you to tell me everything that happened, every detail. You know as well as I do Nightmares don't come around here without a purpose."

Releasing his girlfriend from his embrace, Rua leaned up against the wall and with a sigh, pulled off his helmet, freeing his hair from its confines. Holding the helmet between his arm and side, Rua thought back on the short battle.
"After I left, the creature started tailing me, and so I just ran as fast as I could," he started off, his eyes looking up at the ceiling, "And I found out that it was faster. It tackled me to the ground, and when I managed to get up, I saw I was up against an Imperfect."
Alasea's eyes lighted up with concern; Imperfects were one of the most dangerous creatures that existed in Ymaggion. Not very many of them were found, either; their rarity was as great as their strength. Rua continued with his tale, saying, "The battle was short, and I tried to destroy its heart-stone, but the thing was too nimble. At one point the thing disarmed me, and when that happened, I wrestled with it and knocked it back. After that, I turned and ran a safe distance, then collapsed the pass on top of the thing. Easy kill."
Yes, dropping a mountain pass on an Imperfect would kill it, Alasea thought wryly.
"Anyways, on the topic of Nightmares, I'm sure you know how they're created. Negative emotions binding to dead or dying creatures. Imperfects being created through dismembered groups of creatures," Rua said, "So my guess is that Nightmares are only a byproduct of this monster. You said the monster killed a bunch of players, right? And Sigma back there was frightened to death. My guess is that the negative feelings of the players killed by the monster were binding to the native wildlife killed by the monster."

"A good theory, however, there's one tiny issue. The radar would have picked up a normal nightmare very easily. This one you just defeated was never bound to the nightmare world. In reality, it probably was Sigma. But this would mean another nightmare killed him already, which means the other nightmare must be much stronger than this one..." Kite said hypothesizing the truth in his eyes.

Rua coughed, and not from any kind of illness or polluted air. "What in the hell are you talking about, Kite?" he then said, "Nightmares aren't bound to the Nightmare Realm; that's something completely different."
"And you said that all of the instruments were down," Alasea said, "So there's no way we would've detected it anyway."
"What happened to Sigma wasn't the work of any Nightmare," Rua said, "Sure, Nightmares and Imperfects are some of the most dangerous creatures Ymaggion has, but any Beta Tester experienced with combat can take them, and easily. Hell, I did just by firing shots around one and dropping rubble on top of it. If I can do that, I'm sure Sigma can. No, Kite, there's something else out there, something on the danger level of something Xastra or Ziatoch would have commanded."

"Well then. Now that Mr. Dragonheart has disposed of this Nightmare for us. Not finishing the job is no longer an option. Whatever is making a little dwelling up here in the mountains is going to realize that we're here now. If we try to leave it could spread its domain. I think our best chance to get to him without getting lost in the storms is to go through that passageway." Cortana said this all very firmly as if it were an order. Some could think Cortana was overriding the Chief, but in truth, it was exactly his thoughts.
The Chief dropped once more to the floor and waited for his allies to come down as well. As he turned toward the hallway, shotgun still raised, Cortana spoke once more, "By the by Rua, what exactly was this Imperfect made of?"

Rua thought back and cocked his head to the side, looking upwards while thinking. After a bit, the image of the Imperfect came back to him. "I haven't been in the lands beyond the Wall too often, so I don't know the full normal bestiary here. What I did recognize on the beast was some Nemean Lion, a bit of Enicorn, and a lot of Kryll. I didn't recognize the rest. Nemean Lions are pretty common in the mountain footholds, though, which isn't much of a surprise."

"Those monsters aren't necessarily weak though, a couple of them travel in groups as well," Cortana said pensively. "Imperfects are also made, so this thing is both intelligent and capable of slaughtering groups of beasts of any variety apparently. We have the advantage indoors though, I'd strongly suggest we hurry and find out where this takes us. My guess is its connected to something larger, or perhaps can take us somewhere higher where we can see around." The Master Chief nodded in both agreement to Cortana, and to show it was time to continue.

"Okay, so maybe it isn't a nightmare, it's something worse; what th hell would spook someone enough to become a nightmare...much less sigma," Kite queried at Dragonheart.
