Areni shook her head. "If he hasn't come out, that means he's still inside." She told the secretary, who looked back at her with blank eyes. After a few moment, the secretary moved. "Ooohhh..." She let out. "Oh, yeah." She smiled a little, rather unembarrassedly. "Right, go ahead, then."

Adam gave the secretary a strange look as he moved towards the office door. Why was she hired? he thought idly.

Areni shook her head, walking towards the door they had not come in through. She cast a glance at Adam, as if to say What an airhead, right? She opened the door, and nigh immediately a warm, almost scorching wind blew through it.
"Oh, one more thing," The secretary's voice spoke up, "beware of the leopard."
Areni's facial expression changed to one of great annoyance. "Oh no." She grunted softer than a whisper. She turned to look at Adam. "Gents first." She said.

Adam frowned at Areni. "Well, if you're scared, guess I'll go in first," he muttered as he stepped inside.

Areni entered and closed the door behind them. They had ended up in a room that appeared to be the size of a football field, filled with sand, and a scorching hot wind blowing from seemingly out of nowhere.
"This is just dad." Areni said, shaking her head. "Always taking precautions. It's possible there are a dozen more rooms like this, with puzzles and guardian monsters and riddles and mini-games and weird crap like that." She looked around a little. "But..."

"Eh," Adam grunted as he looked about, "A certain quote comes to mind, but I'd rather not utter it for fear of screwing everything up more."

"He's nuts," Areni said agreeable, "I'll be the first to admit that, but he keeps telling me that the most crazy people have the best minds." She shook her head. "So what is this quote?" She asked in a moment of slighty curiosity, as she looked at Adam, not showing a desire to start walking through the sand-filled room. "Everything is pretty much screwed up as it is already, I doubt it could get any worse without all of the Nine going all fusion on us à la Dragon Ball Z."

Adam rolled his eyes. "Fine then, but if the quote screws us over, I'm blaming you," he said, pulling out his damaged computer device from his inventory, along with a number of tools, "The quote is something that is guaranteed to make things much worse then they are."
Adam looked about, then began trying to repair the computer.
"'It could be worse.'"

Areni slapped her forehead. "And I thought it was going to be a good one this time." She said. "And what are you trying to do?"

"I am trying to fix the computer," Adam said as he tinkered, "In the hope that it might be useful traversing whatever hellscapes your father throws at us."
If her father is crazy, he thought wryly, It'd certainly explain her psychosis.

"I wouldn't exactly call them hellscapes." Areni said. "They are usually more like those crazily long levels where you just keep running from a big-ass giant or a rolling boulder until a point where you can go through a door on the right into safety," She continued, curiously looking at Adam's movements, not really seeing a point in it, "or those Rubix Cube puzzles."

"Meh," Adam grunted, "Any place with you in it can be considered a Hell. Hence, hellscape."
Damn monsters, he grumbled silently, still working on the small machine while making progress, This thing cost a fortune and they had to go and break it.
"Anyways, when I get this fixed, you'll see how it's useful. Just give me a few more minutes before you start going anywhere," he said before becoming absorbed in his task.

"Oh, sure, and every place with you in it can certainly be considered a better version of Heaven." Areni uttered with a heavily sarcastic tone. "By the by, I don't think the quicksand will be giving you that much time." She noted as she looked downwards towards her ankles, or, rather, tried to, as they had disappeared below a layer of sand. As she moved her legs a little, she noticed a powerful suction imposed onto her legs by the sand.

Adam sighed as he looked down attempted to pull his feet out of the quicksand. He noticed he had some movement despite the suction, and since he had finally fixed the computer, he put his tools away and trudged over to Areni and held his arm out to her. "Grab ahold," he said, "I can get us out of this mess."

Areni looked up at Adam, and all of a sudden, her face turned grave as she glared at him. "No." She said. "For once, I am not gonna have you drag me around as if I am some old lady's chihuahua." She said firmly, as her hand held on to her scythe-bladed rod. "So I am not moving until you swear on your future grave that you won't activate that flight pack of yours while we are inside here. And trust me," She went on, "that future grave will certainly become reality all the sooner if you don't do that."
