Artifact/Weapon Name: Spell-splitter
Wielder: Aleina
Type of Artifact/Weapon: Ring for spell defense
Appearance of Artifact/Weapon: The ring is a very small piece of jewelry, being a simply black band made out of an onyx-like material, but polished in a manner so as not to shine. There are no engravings on this simple black ring, but it seems heavier than most pieces of jewelry of that size.
Origin of Artifact/Weapon: This ring is unlike the rest of Aleina’s gear, in that she found it herself deep within one of the temples of power. It took her some time to realize its use, but once she did she realized the tremendous advantages to it.
Special Abilities of the Artifact/Weapon: The ring has only one special ability, and that is the ability to split spells in half when they strike, diverting them past herself. This puts tremendous strain on her arm as she feels the pressure, and she must remain immobile while blocking with it. The ring can block effectively three magic attacks her own level once every half of an hour, or three more than this for each rank in decreasing power. It could perhaps weaken an alpha level technique, but it would not be an effective way to survive something of that sort.

The spell has to hit the ring, I'm guessing? Because there are spells that don't act as projectiles.

That's correct, it works as basically a shield would, or like Riul's sword does in that it makes contact and splits the attack.
