So, the first shots have been fired, starting off the war on net neutrality. AT&T, famous for its tendency to try and monopolize the internet, has restricted all access to 4chan's /b/ and /r9k/ boards. The Internet Hate Machine is already starting up. It took only 5 hours for Anonymous to mobilize. moot acknowledged the ban on his site and urges people to call or write customer support and corporate immediately... but seriously, this is fucking 4chan. They're gonna do a lot more than just that. You can read about it here. AT&T may have finally gone in over their heads.

4chan hosts a website (One I would never suggest going to) that basically hosts several massive... threads. They're very similar to a message board thread in the fact that you may post after one another about whatever you want, and concerning basically whatever content you want. 4chan is infamous for some of their boards and they are all known as /name/ such as /b/ or the other ones Rising Dragon pointed out.
A lot of internet phrases and puns can be traced backed to 4chan, and it's basically the hellhole of the internet. Every single post requires that an image be attached to it as uploaded from someone's computer... so basically you can imagine.
If you can help it, don't go there.
On topic though, maybe AT&T will lose some money and be forced to allow the iPhone more abilities and to work on other services.

Um... Rib... AT&T would TIGHTEN the hold on the iPhone, to help gain money after losing some. I still am having trouble figuring out WHY AT&T is doing this.

That war... was incredibly short. Access to 4chan's various boards have been restored by AT&T, but they made up some bullshit about contacting Moot and requesting changes to the board. Which, Moot says is utter bullshit.
But now 4chan's come down completely. Teej thinks its because 15% of their regular traffic coming back at once after the restriction was lifted.

Wait...
There's people that actually LIKE 4chan enough that this was an issue? God bless Anonymous for all that they do (Scientology bullshit, etc.); but, seriously, they just saved the biggest furry community on the internet on top of all the kiddie porn and other atrocities you can find on that site. Oh well, maybe when an actual important site starts pulling this shit, people will give a damn about net neutrality, but I still think that it's like the Y2K bug in every possible way.
"Ooh, it'll wreak havoc and cause chaos all over the world." *Clock strikes 12:01 "Wait, nothing happened...Oh well, back to network Doom..."
Besides, it's fucking AT&T; they're one of the most hated telecommunications companies on the face of the earth; they're supposed to do supposedly evil things like this (Though personally, I would have viewed it as a mercy killing).

Well, yes, while 4chan does harbor things that give others plenty of ample reason to shut it down or block it, the crux of the matter is that a company was still unfairly restricting access to a site, and furthermore, was lying about it.
So if they do it to 4chan, what's to stop them from doing it to other sites?
