Ymaggion Character Name: Valis Lightshield
Alias: Val
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Nationality: American
Rank: Beta
Specialization: Warrior
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Physical Weaknesses: Not as effective against multiple people, fairly slow moving, susceptible to being caught from behind, runs out of mana, S.O.L. if she loses her weapon
Mental Weaknesses: Doesn't like to share the leadership role, overconfident, very prideful
Physical Strengths: Very strong, very high pain tolerance, good balance
Mental Strengths: Intelligent, experienced, good sense of humor, perceptive, good concentration skills
Clothing/Armor:
ARMOR
Shoulders: Purple crystals embedded into silver borders guard Valis' shoulders. Electricity sparks through the crystals like lightning, charged with mana to add extra protection. In the center of the crystals on both shoulders a large blue orb glows brilliantly, the electricity feeding into them and holding more purple crystals hovering and rotating around the gems.
Torso: The chest plate is different shades of purple as well. A triangle shaped piece centers itself around the collar bone, with silver bordering and detail around the edges. A pointed plate arrows downward at the belt. Strips of blue with silver edging slant downward around to the back of the chest plate with silver link detail through the middle of them. The arms have several layers of armoring on them and at the elbows simple chain mail is found to make bending the arms possible as well as at the waist.
Waist: A single purple gem embedded in silver plating shines brightly at the center of the buckle, two diamond shaped, blue pieces of armor falling to each side to make up the belt itself.
Gloves: The fingers are blue shingles until the base of the last knuckle where silver plate takes over. Above the wrist, the gauntlets widen and the silver gives way to more purple plate with silver detailing. Some gold also swirls with the silver.
Legs: A blue downward arrow surrounded by black, purple, and silver armor are the base of the armor for the legs, ending at the inside of the thighs. Purple crystals comprise the leg armor with a few raised bits for added protection, each with silver edging to prevent slide-through. At the knees, two blue bits guard the tender area, and silver plating bends to allow movement. Two purple gems are pushed into the shin guards and encased only by a different color of purple gem.
Feet: Dark purple, nearly black boots cover the feet. Silver surrounds the top of the boots around mid-calf and a single silver strap buckles into place at the knee guard, connecting the two pieces of armor securely.
Head: A majestic purple helm rides atop the head of the armor. A skilled cut provides the necessary slits for speaking and breathing, and the wide window cut near the upper half is perfect for a good field of vision. At the edges of these windows silver is laid in for effect. Small white horns run over the top of the helm in a line from the front to the back (yeah, like a Mohawk), and two longer, curved horns reach out on both sides.
Cape: Dark, dark purple, almost black, with silver threading
CASUAL
Valis usually wears tailored silk shirts, of which she has many colors. She wears long coats over these shirts for the most part, unless the weather calls for leaving it at home. Her favorite is a red coat with gold detailing around the edges. In general, her pants are brown leather, worn and comfortable, but well-fitted nevertheless. Her shoes are usually either brown or black leather boots, and she does not wear gloves unless she feels she may need to use a sword. At her side is a thin silver sword with a gold handle, and a single ruby at the base of the blade.
Physical Appearance: Valis is a girl of average height, around 5'6, with muscled arms and battle-worn hands. Scars mark her face and shoulders from both the burden of a sword and the heat of battle. She has long red hair, falling at her shoulders, with bangs that sweep over her left eye. Her eyes are bright sapphire blue, set into an eternally stern expression. She has a piercing on the left of her nose, and another on her left eyebrow that is set in the center of a long scar that runs from just over her eyebrow to the corner of her mouth.
Personality: Valis is a smart person, and isn't afraid to prove it to you. She's got a very loud personality, and doesn't mind being the weird one that everyone raises their eyebrow at. She is very confident, sometimes too much for her own good, and very prideful as well. Those two traits get her into trouble much of the time, but for the most part she doesn't hear much about it, though it could be because people are too annoyed by her to speak their mind and risk a conversation. Generally, when they do speak up, she takes it all in good humor. Her sense of humor is good, as long as you don't push her too far. She doesn't play well with others for the most part, so it's best not to get on the wrong side of her and expect help anytime soon. She has really good concentration skills though, so her quarrel's with another person won’t distract her from the task at hand. She is good-natured, outgoing, and a little on the wild side at times. Valis is most definitely not afraid of those around her or their thoughts, and certainly not afraid to try something new.
Equipment: The sword Valis tends to carry with her is a long purple blade made up of crystals charged with electric energy. Silver and yellow spin runic symbols along the edges of the blade. The hilt of the sword is rounded and comprised of the twisted ends of the crystals making up the sword itself. The handle is wrapped in black silk, and a rounded end to it holds a large black gem with several silver orbs floating. What are those silver orbs? It’s said they are elementals, sleeping until called by her voice to fight at her side. How willing are you to find out?
Miscellaneous Items: A necklace on a silver chain holds a green amulet that Alyssa’s grandmother gave to her. She discovered a way to program it into the game for her character alone and allow it to offer a communication pathway between her and her allies. She carries a single leather-bound spell book with her, though she rarely uses it but to teach a younger warrior. Also hidden away inside her bags is a small cloth doll. She’s had this since her childhood, and she keeps it nearby at all times as a reminder of her old life.
Elemental Affinity: Light
Special Abilities: Ability to sense the past. Valis can read what has happened to you in your entire life in mere moments as long as she can see your eyes. She has the ability to ease spiritual, mental, and physical pain with the mere will, or increase it with a touch.
Transformations: Valis has three transformations: Devotion Aura, Retribution Aura, and Concentration Aura. Devotion increases the stamina and durability of the all the members in the group. The exact bonus is affected by rank. Retribution is a damage shield for the members of Valis' group. It starts out at small amounts of damage reflected (bouncing off and returning to damage the attacker) per hit and rises with the rank of each member. Concentration gives the members of the group a lesser chance of an attacker doing damage when channeling a spell.

Battle Style: Valis is a paladin, fighting with sword, shield, and spell. She focuses mainly on her melee techniques, but also does a lot of healing and revival. With the ability to bring an ally back to life or heal one on the brink of death, she does get called on to heal often. But more often than not you’ll find her at the front of the battle, blade to blade with the opponent. Valis has a great deal of strength, but does not move particularly quickly, and is not exactly stealthy. What she is though, is perceptive, and she can pick out the slightest sound to prevent an ambush from taking her group by surprise. Valis’ holy spells do a great deal of damage against the shadows.
Companions: The silver orbs floating in her sword are spirits that travel with her, guardian angels if you will. At her call, she can bring them to her side to fight, doubling her mana and attack power. She rides a horse armored in white and blue.
History: Alyssa was born in North Carolina, where she was raised near the beach. Nearly every day was sunny and warm, and those few rainy days they did have were eased by the prospect of the sun afterward. But when she turned 18 and headed off to college in Idaho, she needed something to ease the boredom. Studies got in her way though, and soon she was in desperate need of stress relief and entertainment. Sure, she had friends, but the classes were not forgiving to those that stayed out to relax in the evenings. After much searching, she got herself into the game of World of Warcraft.
Her character developed quickly, a carrier of the light, who could deal massive damage and yet heal when it was necessary. Acquiring a large number of allies, she soon became one of the more well known players in the game. Throughout her four final years of schooling, Alyssa earned herself a name in the virtual world. Her skills and abilities were sought after by those who played at her side, and she was guarded by those who desired her favor.
When she graduated, her grandmother gave her a green amulet, one she promptly designed to allow communication in game. Now, she could speak with her friends and allies as often as she pleased for any reason, and as long as she wore it they could contact her.
It quickly came into use. In a raid on a large city, Valis was hailed to a cathedral where her group was struggling badly. Her three guards (NPC) rode with her to the scene, and there they resurrected the dead, healed the injured, and defeated the enemy. But the victory was not without cost. A glitch in the game caused the three guards to be stuck in the ghost form between death and respawn. They made their wishes clear. If they must be ghosts, they would be guardians of their leader, guardians that could not be harmed any longer. They would protect Valis with their immortal spirits and increase her power when they were called to battle. The three angels took their place in the head of her sword, resting until they were needed.
Valis’ work continued, battle after battle working its way through time. When the makers of the game realized her potential as a player, they offered her a job with them. Alyssa accepted quickly, and Valis became even more important to the game world. Her followers doubled in loyalty, carrying the banner of their army for years after.
But around the age of 21, Alyssa met Jason. She was no longer as fervent a player as she had been, her eyes set on someone more valuable to her than the game could ever be. She still played for her work, but her army began to fade. Soon, there were no more than ten, and even they were on the edge of their allegiance. The three angels in her sword still swore their defense of her, but she was no longer a leader of an army. Though each and every player still honored her and called her friend, recognizing her superiority, they no longer bowed to her word or followed her order.
Valis now walks with her angels only, and the few friends she still keeps in contact with are there should she call for them. But it is a lonely road these days, and she is only there to do what she must for the good of Ymaggion.
RP Example: A long purple cape dragged through mud and puddles of water as rain poured from the sky over the red hair of a tall woman. Her helmet rested beneath her arm, and she slowly bent to kneel at the side of a body laying peacefully in the earth’s embrace. The helmet still covered their face, tilted slightly toward the kneeling figure, no breath leaving a fog in the cold night air. A single gauntleted hand reached down, slowly pulling the helmet off. Lightning flashed through the sky, lighting up the features of the now exposed face. Next the sword was removed from its sheath, a single red ruby glinting brightly in the dark. The woman ran her thumb over the jewel one time before a voice called behind her over the thunder, “Lady Valis. We must go. More soldiers are on the horizon.”
At the sound of fleeing footsteps, Lady Valis stood, eyes still on the ruby. She whispered to herself among the hiss of the rain, “Such is the loss of the leader.” With a single swift motion, she ran the sword through the ground at the soldier’s head, avoiding the body, and placed the helmet over the ruby, the purple feathers atop it blowing fiercly in the wind, “Such is the joy of the victor.”
She turned, lunging herself onto her tall white stallion, his bright eyes scanning the horizon. Turning him toward the nearby mountains, she called back to her army without looking at them, “They die to preserve their convictions. You ride to preserve their memory. Do not let their deaths be in vain. We ride!” Urging her horse into a swift gallop through the stormy rain, they disappeared into the night, leaving the hundreds of purple feathers to dance in the wind over the bodies of the dead.
Extra: At around the age of 23 Alyssa was selected to be the ambassador of Blizzard to the game of Ymaggion.
