Joe decided that Laura was most likely right, and he knew worrying wasn't going to help, so he quirked his head to the side in amusement, "we get rooms for a day's trip?" He asked, eyes sparkling. He glanced around, spotted a stairway that, he decided, must lead to the lower decks, and began to walk over. "you two coming?" He asked curiously, head turned to look at the pair behind him.

"Uh, yeah, we're coming!" Shifter said, slightly surprised at the initiative Joe decided to show. Shrugging to his companion Laura, he went and followed Joe over to the stairway to the lower decks. "We'll just need to check into the reception to get some rooms reserved for us."

OOC: Sorry for the delay, thanks for waiting on me.
Laura's feet skimmed the surface of the deck, the mud left by boots and the dirt from travellers cloaks that had clung to the floor were left untouched as her feet hovered in the air. "There's always plenty of room on these boats, and when it seems like it's got to be full, always more show up somewhere," she chattered with excitement, half to herself, half to her companions. She had ridden aboard the boat once before, on a travel between Minervum and Newdam, but the memory now seemed as distant in her head as the places she would be travelling to.

Joe patiently waited for the other two to catch up, realizing that he had taken them off guard with his change in demeanor. As they approached he noticed something odd. "Um...Laura? Are you supposed to be floating?"

OOC: Crap... two months. Okay, here we go.
She gave him a curious look, as if to ask that he had never seen something like this before. Slowly she said, "Everyone in this game has a power of some sorts. Some people control animals, others can control the elements... It was my dream in real life to fly, to be weightless... To not let the world have a constant hold on my body, so in the game I learned how to fly. I'm not as fast as some people, though, but I'm getting there. C'mon, I'll race you there!"
She shot through the air at a running speed, quickly going past Joe, "C'mon slowpoke! Shifter! I know you can move fast too when you want to!"

Joe stared at the speeding figure of Laura for a moment in wonder. Then shook his head and started a steady jog after her. "I'm gonna need a handbook or something to keep track of this game." He muttered quietly to himself. Then louder, so Laura could hear, "uh...right, coming."

"She's making this too easy, you know," Shifter stated while starting off at a brisk trot. As he picked up the pace, he looked back at Joe. "Well, can't let her have all the fun, can we?"
And he Space-Shifted, disappearing in a cloud of reddish smoke, black flecks of dark matter bursting up and disappearing. There was a sound of air rushing into the empty space, and he appeared again, this time just behind Laura. He smiled cheekily as he began to pass her, then Shifted again, reappearing farther down the deck.

"Hacks!" Laura cried at Shifter, pushing her speed even more in pursuit. Her intensity was short lived, however, and a moment later she realized their group was only feet away from the registration counter. Noting that Shifter had most likely passed it, she turned quickly to it and said over her shoulder, "I hope you two don't mind sharing a room. Plenty of space, but they want us to double if possible, just incase." Turned to the computer terminal and punched in the information, the cards sliding forth as access to the two rooms. "Oh! We got rooms right on the edge with a view! This is gunna be so great!" Laura would have been bouncing on the balls of her feet had she not been airborn, instead she flew excitedly up and down, until she finally hit her head in the ceiling and quieted.
"Anyways, it's a bit of a walk from here, maybe we can see more of the ship on the way there?"

Joe caught up to his traveling companions in time to hear about their room arrangements. His haunted green eyes glanced at Shifter for a moment before he nodded his assent. "Yes, I'm fine with sharing a room." He stared over the side of the Calmwaters and into the rich blue of the ocean surrounding them, "I think I'm starting to like this place." He said to no-one in particular, a faint smile crossing his lips. Like a sledgehammer his thoughts brought to bear all of the painful information about this world in which he stood, his wife's disappearance, his apparent memory loss, and the possibility that he might not find his wife ever again. The smile vanished like a sun behind a cloudbank, leaving behind a firm conviction that he would not let that happen.

"You really need to control yourself, Laura," Shifter noted, trying hard not to laugh upon viewing her display of bouncing into the ceiling. He looked around a bit, and noticed a computer bulletin display mounted on the wall down a ways.
"Hey, let's go check that out," he said, pointing over to it. "We really do need to keep up to date on things going on in Ymaggion."

Massaging the top of her head gently, Laura's feet touched the cold steel ground once more, and she walked toward the bulletin that Shifter had indicated to. "Let's see..." she said, placing a finger on the list and following its path with her eyes, "going to be a new patch soon... blah blah blah... oh, this looks interesting! Apparently there's a city underwater out in the ocean... Joe, when we get stuff figured out with you, we should all take a visit! Imagine what it would be like under the water... but like... not."
She turned and glanced at her companions, "Anything on here look interesting to you guys?"

Joe attempted to be interested in the news-screen, however his mind kept drifting back to his confounding lack of memory ingame. Finally, realizing that it might help if he answered, he spoke. "Um, not really. Though I've never seen a city underwater, I suppose that could be interesting." He mentally shook his head for such a dull answer, however he couldn't bring himself to add anything on to it. Oh well, he thought, maybe they won't notice.

"Hey, wait a minute," Shifter said, opening up the link on the bulletin concerning the city--Voya, as it called it. "Well, that's just great. Looks like all first-timers to the city can only enter it through a portal in the Sea Temple... and there's no way we can go through that just yet."
He shifted his weight back onto one leg, rocking a bit on the heel of his boot. "Let's see what else is here... looks like that Quarantine's still in effect. That's okay, we can't go there anyway... oh, and this one telling people that there's a rise in tensions between the in-game countries, and that we should all be careful. Just what we need, right Laura? Tensions rising when we're headed into the most illustrious thieves' den in all of Ymaggion."
It would seem that Justin was still not that comfortable with the idea of heading to Rogueport.

Laura made an indignant sound at the aspect of thieves before announcing, "Thieves are cowards, they steal from people because they can't get it for themselves. I doubt one of them would bother attacking us so long as we stay in a group. Besides, Shifter can teleport, and I can fly at least one of you up if we need to." She stopped a moment, and thought about being alone in Rogueport, especially as a teenage girl. The thought made her shudder visibly.
"I don't think we should worry about that too much until we're there. We're on a cruise! Let's at least enjoy that much," she bit her lip anxiously as she said this, hoping to shift the subject to something more amiable.

Joe felt the tension emanating from his companions, and realized at least part of it was due to fear. His earlier feelings suddenly came to life again, what am I doing? Dragging these two into my own problems. He thought angrily to himself.
He turned and spoke quietly, his voice steady and sure. "You're right, you two should enjoy the cruise. I'm sorry for dragging you into this, but I feel that I'd be taking you places you don't want to go. Your kindness is appreciated, but I couldn't live with myself if either of you got hurt. You're practically just children, thank you for your help, but I think I should go to Rogueport alone."
