This thread is for an alphabetical listing of any Celestial creatures you can possibly encounter in Ymaggion. If you wish for this list to be expanded, go suggest a creature in the Creature Suggestion thread. "Celestials" is a term that encompasses all beings that are from a higher plane than Earth. Creatures that can be denoted as coming from a "heavenly" other world are likely to be celestials. Many celestials in Ymaggion are native to the Core. Common celestials are Angels and Archons. Below in this post are described sub-groups of celestials. [/b] Angels are the prime inhabitants of the Core and serve the Ymaggion staff. The name "angel" is most commonly used to describe the lowest-ranking beings in the Angelic Hierarchy, as well as the most numerous. Higher ranking beings in the Angelic Hierarchy are archangels, seraphim, ophanim, cherubim, powers, virtues, dominions and principalities. Angels are the ones that interact the most with humans and other earthly races and the ones that frequently venture into Hell to combat devils and demons and undead. Angels appear much like humans with white wings and most often wear uniforms appropriate to their exact occupation. Their appearances vary as much as those of humans, though they tend to appear more comely than the average human. Personality-wise they also vary quite a bit, though many of them strive to perfect themselves and act virtuously, often choosing a single virtue to pursue (many of the members of the Angel Police have chosen to pursue the virtue of Justice). Angels hardly require food or sleep for sustenance, though they require air as humans do. Angels are notable for being mostly incapable of reproduction amongst themselves but bearing no limitations in regards to reproduction with earthly species, a trait which even resulted in the creation of the race of the aasimar. Subgroup - ArchonsArchons are a grouping of a few kinds of celestial beings that live in the Core alongside the Angels, but aren't as actively involved with earthly affairs as those other celestials are, and they don't actually work for the Staff of Ymaggion. Archons are a varied bunch of creatures that embody the spirit of Law, with some among them partly resembling animals whilst others appear to have little to no physical form. They tend to keep to themselves and try to keep up an outlook on life based on living the good life in a just manner and act virtuously: never too reckless and never too cowardly, never too giving and never too greedy, never too ambitious and never too humble. An archon that is provoked with harsh words or actions has a sliver of madness and rage breaking loose within its mind. As the archon is more and more provoked by words or actions that would have likely driven many to anger by that time this sliver grows and grows and the archon experiences it as an increasing headache until finally their pain barrier is breached and the madness and rage overcomes their being. Their eyes start to emit a glaring light and as they start to fight like madmen they instill great fear into their opponents. If this occurs, they usually keep fighting until nothing is left around them that could possibly be a source of anger. As the madness and rage lasts longer, the archon's body starts to take on a stone-like appearance on the outside. Should this transformation finalize, the archon's mind is shattered and lost and they become beings of Chaos. Subgroup - GuardinalsGuardinals are several celestial races of animal-like beings that were created by the god Ra'des. They are native to the plane of Elysium. On their home plane they act kind and are quicker to produce a laugh than to fall to anger. However, this does not mean that they are weak or without resolve. Indead, they show great resolve and strength when away from their home plane when they face evil and have a tendency to pursue and combat evil beings relentlessly. Guardinals aren't ubiquitous, even on their home plane. They live in small groups, trying to avoid trouble and getting rid of it when they come across it. They live simply and nomadically, taking only what they need. Guardinals possess a resistance against poison, cold, lightning and acidic substances. Furthermore, they possess the ability to telepathically communicate with animals.[/ul]

A-B[/b] An angel mechanator is an angel who pilots a mecha, wearing sleek outfits whilst they pilot their mecha. The types of mecha commonly piloted are the Nine-Breaker (for angel mechanators part of the Core legions), Knightmares (Knightpolice for the Angel Police, Sutherlands for the Core legions) and Variable Fighters (for those angel mechanators in the Core legions that fight mostly in the sky or space). Angel, PoliceThe angel police is a force commonly known in Ymaggion, as they are the ones that take care of the most serious crimes, especially those committed by players. They are notable figures thanks to their defining long blue coat uniforms. They commonly bear pistols and short swords as their arms and possess a few other devices to assist them in their job, such as enchanted cuffs. AvoralThe Avoral is a creature with the body of a tall muscular human, but with wings in place of arms. The face is humanoid, but sharp-lined and with large eyes, giving it a somewhat avian look, and rather than with hair its head is adorned with a feathery cowl. Its legs are long and muscular and end in sharp talons, and they're covered with a layer of feathers. The seven-foot tall creature called the avoral possesses light and hollow bones, making a specimen weigh rarely over 120 pounds. Both of an avoral's wings have a small clawed hand at the midpoint, and when its wings are folded they are roughly at the point where a human hand would be. An avoral's sight is very accurate and sharp, allowing it to easily discern details at twelve-hundred feet away. In fact, an avoral's sight is partly magical in nature, and this allows the avoral to see through magical disguises and see those who are invisible as transparent images. Avorals tend to attack as they fly by, using their hind claws to attack. They can use their hands to wield small weapons, but they cannot use these whilst they are using their wings to fly. They possess a small amount of latent magic ability, allowing them to create small balls of light in their hands or above their heads to light up an area, and they can fire small bursts of magical energy from their hands, as well as their feet. By powerfully flapping their wings when briefly infused with mana, they can create bursts of wind to blow nearby objects and creatures away. Avorals are generally considered to be mid-Gamma rank creatures.[/ul]

C-D[/b] The Cervidal is the most common type of guardinal and, admittably, the weakest. The satyrlike cervidals possess slim, muscular bodies that are covered in short dark red fur. They have a somewhat regal bearing, with their most striking feature being their long and curved horns atop their heads. Whilst it has hooves instead of feet, it possesses humanlike hands, with the exception that their backs are covered by plates of bone, which makes them effective boxers and they often use their hands as weapons. The cervidals are a peaceful folk, but when the need arises they form the bulk of guardinal armies - partly because they are the most numerous, partly because they make for effective frontline fighters. Cervidals usually begin a fight by a charging attack using their horns as weapons. They also all have the ability to detect and remove poison in those they lay their hands on. Cervidals who lose their horns somehow lose these abilities, however. Cervidals are generally considered to be high-Delta rank creatures. CherubimCherubim (singular Cherub) are a kind of angels in the First Sphere of the Angelic Hierarchy, meaning that they are one of the closest servants of the Staff and serve within their twin headquarter towers within the Core as guards. They stand well above six feet tall, averaging around seven and a half feet and some being a little over eight feet tall, many weighing several hundreds of pounds as their bodies possess great girth due to muscularity and fat. Cherubim, although possessing one head, have four faces: one of an ox, one of a human, one of a lion and one of an eagle, with the ox-face being their "true" face. They have two pairs of wings both joined together at the shoulder blades from which they sprout, and these wings are covered with a number of eyes. Cherubim are exceptionally strong, and an average cherubim can lift half a ton over his head with a little effort. They can also fly pretty fast, but possess little to no magical ability to aid them in their duty of guards of the Staff headquarters. These creatures are usually of at the very least high-Gamma rank and most of them are considered to be of low-Beta rank.[/ul]

E-F[/b] The Equinal resembles a humanoid with qualities of a typical draft horse, possessing a broad chest and shoulders and standing just a little short of nine feet in length and weighing around 600 pounds. Its long and strong arms end in iron-hard fingers that make a creditable hoof when curled into a fist. Its legs, covered in short bristly hair, end in a pair of true hooves as hard as its fists. Its face is long and narrow and its hair runs across its hair and neck to the center of its back. Next to cervidals, equinals are the most common kind of guardinal, championing good. For combat, equinals are loathe to use weapons, preferring to wade into melee and fight with their iron-hard fists. They never back down from a fight, even when obviously outmatched. They are resistant to damage delivered by weapons that are not silvered. Equinals are generally considered to be high-Gamma rank creatures.[/ul]

G-H[/b] A Hound Archon (pictured on the left) appears as a powerfully built humanoid with a canine head and with a scarlet-hued skin that is covered in a layer of very short fur. With a greatsword strapped across their back and an intelligent and calm expression on their face, they look as if they are always ready to get into action. Their appearance marks them as clearly able combatants, and hound archons oft battle one another for sport and honour and their greatswords are blessed with holy energies. They are amongst the very few kinds of archons that venture much away from the Core, and they usually do this to combat demons and beings of Chaos. However, due to the lingering danger of the archon's madness and rage taking over, they are also the kind of archons that counts among themselves the greatest number of casualties to this supernatural racial insanity, and many a hound archon has had to face an erstwhile comrade in battle against Chaos. Hound archons can create Light and change shape into any canine life form smaller than or as large as themselves as long as it is not a fiendish or chaotic kind. Hound archons are generally considered to be Gamma rank creatures.[/ul]

K-L[/b] The Lantern Archon is the least of all archons and appears as a glowing ball of yellow light that floats in the air. Lantern archons are very friendly and kind beings, and their voices often sound with a hint of music behind it. Although they cannot give much physical or material aid, they can fire thin rays of light and they always know if an inherently evil being is near them. Lantern archons are considered to be around high-Epsilon/low-Delta rank creatures. LeonalAs the name implies, the Leonal is a lion-like humanoid creature with a powerful, muscular build that stands about 6 feet tall (some even standing 7 feet tall) and weighing up to 400 pounds. Their bodies are covered in a layer of golden fur and their heads and faces are leonine with a short muzzle and a thick, dark mane. Its hands have powerful claws and equally powerful sharp teeth line its mouth. The Leonal is the most powerful of the guardinal races and they can unleash a devastating sonic roar that tears apart trees and creatures alike. It can raise a force field of holy energy around itself that protects it from evil attacks, and it can shoot large balls of flame from its mouth. Its skin is thick and tough and non-evil weapons don't pierce its protection fully. It is also immune to any sonic effects. Leonals are considered Beta rank creatures. LupinalThe Lupinal is a creature that appears part wolf and part humanoid, standing erect and as tall as a human. They are born hunters, and often choose evil creatures as the object of their hunt. Perhaps partly because of this, they are more often found outside of their home plane than the other guardinal races. They appear more lawful than the other guardinal races, following a code of duty and living in a pack-based society. They operate in close cooperation in groups and are rarely far away from allies. Sometimes they are mistaken for werewolves, but they are far less savage, even though they bear some resemblance with their lupine muzzles, furred tails and backwards-bending legs. Whilst not savage, however, they can be quick to anger and ferocious opponents. Lupinals possess the ability to instill fear into evil beings around them by unleashing a wicked and sorrowful-sounding howl from the depths of their throats. They are capable of utilizing the Ice Blast technique and its lesser Icy Shot version, as well as use Ghostform once every day. Lupinals are considered Gamma rank creatures.[/ul]

M-N[/b] The Musteval is a slim and short humanoid with an elongated snout and tufted ears and ferret-like beady eyes coloured a very dark pink. Its slender limbs and body are covered in a layer of snow-white fur. These creatures are the least powerful of all the guardinals, but they are nevertheless equally dedicated to their cause. They often serve other, greater celestial beings as spies--a job they can act out well due to their size and skill in stealthiness. Mustevals are clever and agile beings and rarely remain still for long. They stand at only a few feet tall, never more than three, and usually weigh 30 to 40 pounds. They make good use of their magic abilities, among which are Disguise, which they often use to blend in in a crowd, and Orb of Force. Mustevals have keen ears and are capable climbers. These creatures are usually considered to be Delta rank creatures.[/ul]

S-T[/b] Seraphim (singular Seraph) are Angels ranked in the First Sphere of the Angelic Hierarchy, meaning that they are one of the closest servants of the Staff and serve within their twin headquarter towers within the Core as personal servants to the Administrators of Ymaggion and, when needed, double as bodyguards. However, they are not explicitly trained for that, and it is actually only a very small part of their job, which mostly involves cleaning up after incidents -- both big and small -- and do not question their orders, their free will being limited in that aspect. The Seraphim have six wings, their middle pair being the largest and most-used for flight. These wings most often appear to be somewhat translucent and golden in colour. Seraphim all possess the knowledge and ability to use the Holy spell. Seraphim are generally considered to be at the very least high-Gamma rank creatures, most being low-Beta rank. Trumpet ArchonThe Trumpet Archon appears much like a beautiful, green-skinned elf with broad feathered wings and a regal bearing that carries a long silver trumpet along with it. It has a love for trumpet music and is often overjoyed when allowed to sound their trumpets. Most trumpet archons serve other archons, hound archons that have distinguished themselves as heroes in battle against chaotic or fiendish beings or archon nobles, and serve as heralds for these other archons. Trumpet archons are capable of casting White Mage spells like a normal White Mage of Gamma-rank, although they cannot cast Beta-rank spells, lacking the ability to use Super Techniques. Trumpet Archons are generally Gamma rank creatures.[/ul]

U-V[/b] The Ursinal is a large bipedal creature that is distinctively bear-like. Its body, standing over 8 feet tall, is covered in a thick layer of fur, varying in colour from a light white gold to deep autumn red to dark golden-brown. Its face, with its pronounced muzzle and ears set high, has a tendency to bear a kind and wise expression. Ursinals are the scholars and philosophers amongst the guardinals and are most assuredly the wisest. They serve as advisors to the regal leonals and as record-keepers and seekers of knowledge and they often speak more than five different languages. Ursinals have a dislike for combat and tend to shy away from it. However, their large amount of knowledge brings with it a talent for arcane magic, and the bookwormy Ursinals often know many Illusion, Enchantment and Divination spells. Ursinals are mostly low-Beta rank creatures.[/ul]
