Samus nodded to the two of her companions as they made their way up onto the ledge, then turned and began walking along the middle of the small plateau. They had an excellent view from here, able to see over the rainforest canopy, and further down into the valley. They were closer to the city than before, though not by much--it was still a long ways off. Her digital map was correct, though, one fork led away from the valley center and its hidden temple city, and the other ended in a sharp dead end. Samus noted the rain clouds approaching, that storm was gonna be hitting very soon.
"Tsual, stranger, we're not gonna find shelter any time soon," she said, not looking at either of them. "And that storm's gonna be on us any moment now. Do you two have anything to protect you from the rain? I don't want to be babysitting either of you because you caught a common disease out here."

Tsaul sighed and gave her a very blank look, then pointed out towards the jungles that lie ahead of them.
"I've lived in those jungles for the past year. I'm used to it; I have an immune system because i'm not one of those freaking germaphobes that refuses to go out into storms or swim in dirty rivers just because they might catch something. Besides that, this one doesn't even look like it'll be that bad compared to last week's. That thing blew the door clean off by hut."
He ended the statement with a look of disgust.
'It took me weeks to build that hut.'

Kasdim-Ur frowned as he continued to follow the armored person, "If I catch a cold, it'll be none of your concern." He stated simply, "Besides, I too have an immunity to the diseases around here." His eyes narrowed as he looked at the incoming black clouds, which were starting to block out what little of the sun that remained at the late hour.

Yeah, I bet you do, Samus said, gazing about the environment as she walked along the ledge, which was starting to dip into the foliage once more. Holding her arm cannon out in front of her, she spotted another trail down low. However, ahead she saw that a landside had blocked off the trail, which necessitated traveling up on the plateau instead. The group walked past it, and the plateau rose up once more, so that they saw up above the various trees again. The skies rumbled overhead, and a couple droplets of water struck the visor of her Phazon Suit. Samus ignored them, unconcerned about the rain that was slowly beginning to start.
Off in the far distance, from where the storm originated, a bolt of lightning flashed down, tines of light stabbing the air as it struck the ground. A second or two later, the thunder rolled once more. After a few more seconds of walking, Samus turned slightly, towards the edge, and jumped down the fourteen-foot drop, landing on the worn stone tiles of the city trail, beneath the foliage. She landed with barely a jolt, and looked forward before raising her weapon up and continuing forward, unmindful of her companions.

Tsaul had his own thoughts to worry about as he followed Samus through the forest. The rain didn't truly bother him anymore; he had grown rather accustomed to it from living in these parts for so long. Mentally, however, he was reeling over the current situation.
She's obviously not telling me her main purpose for coming out to this area. She's looking for something, is it a landmark? I just can't tell...

After a few moments, the Shade realised he had others to deal with... so he dissapated and reappeared in front of Samus Aran. For some reason, the scanners inside of her suit could not pick up his stats.
Do not... touch... the artifacts...
When he spoke, the scanner went haywire showing Samus something severely troubling... Its not that the scanners aren't picking up his stats, its the fact that their off the charts!
The artifacts... mustn't be... exposed...

Brush parted itself, and animals scurried as the Master Chief blazed a quick and relatively silent path through the forest. The sky had been darkening consistently for some time now, and the last thing he felt like doing was holding an encounter in the rainforest while it was actually raining. After a mere two or three minutes his fears of poor weather were confirmed as raindrops began to fall, practically doubling in numbers each time one hit. Lightning ripped through the sky with thunder shattering the silence less than a second later. No need to be quiet with that going on.
He quickly halted and pulled from his back the large Spartan Laser he had been carrying with him the entire time. Dropping to one knee, he eased the massive gun onto his shoulder and applied pressure to the trigger. Precisely three seconds later, timed with a piece of thunder, the laser eminated from the gun. A circle of a meter in diameter was cut for at least a hundred meters through the growth before it finally hit a large stone that stood, even though baddly burned from the blast. Sliding the laser onto his back once more, the Spartan sprinted through his new pathway he had created; the burnt ends of the plants disintegrated as the Spartan flew through them at inhuman speeds.

Samus's movements stilled as a cold feeling swept through the area, penetrating through even her Chozo armor. The chill had nothing to do with the rain. The threat assessment on one side of her meter rose sharply to the top, indicating a massive threat in the area. Taking a step back, she raised her weapon, motioning for her two companions to move back and ready themselves.
"Tsual, stranger, be careful. Something's here."
Bringing a hand up to the side of her helmet, Samus began switching through visor settings to try and identify the alien presence that had suddenly arrived in the area. The first setting she put in was the Thermal Visor, painting everything awash in infrared hues. The remained mostly dark, with an occasional bright red flash in the sky as a lightning bolt came down in the distance, but there was nothing nearby. The X-Ray Visor was switched to next, but like the Thermal Visor, the gamma rays showed nothing out of the ordinary.
The Dark Visor proved to be different.
Upon turning the Dark Visor on, the reticules changed and a tall, imposing figure was highlighted in red in front of her, indicating that the presence had been in a state of interdimensional flux. Looking up, she could make out the menacing features, the armor covered in intricate spikes, a helmeted, masked face with horns and sharp teeth. The eerie, familiar symbols stood out. Samus' eyes widened in shock.
Xoquoxitill!

Don't... go further... Or I... will bring... death...
The Shade then placed his claw on the ground, using his reality manipulation, he changed the soil and rock in front of him into a very quick - quicksand. After a few seconds, he changed that quicksand into a Darksteel Metal, which would hold the group in place. Only a holy item can dissolve darksteel...

As Samus saw Xoquoxitill reach down, she narrowed her eyes and readied herself. "Both of you, off the ground!" she shouted over her shoulder while crouching slightly, she jumped up just before the rocky plateau changed turning into the quicksand before rapidly solidifying into a dark metal. She landed after a second jump, holding herself steady before interfacing all four of her beam weapons together, combining the Power Beam, Wave Beam, Ice Beam, and Plasma Beam into one weapon.
"You've got no business in this realm, Xoquoxitill," she said, straightening her stance. "Get back into the Nightmare Realm where you belong."

Tsaul heard the call and jumped up into a nearby palm tree standing at the top of it with energy flaring out of his hands. His eyes turned from their normal amber to a blinding white.
"You have no business in this place."

Riul sat cross-legged on a huge eagle high above the clouds. The storm thundered and fired bolts of lightning to the surface below, but above all was calmer than an undesturbed lake. The sun filled her with energy as the rays directly bathed her in power. Her lips formed the words, but no noise came out, "He's here. He's here somewhere." Closing her eyes in deep concentration, the apertures in Riul's body released light that collected itself into a circle. If light could be coded into fiber-optics and read as a computer signal, so also could Riul code light into a message.
"Go." The light vanished, moving at a speed specifically set aside for that element: the speed of light. The light would find the alien evil in the below her. The message was composed of a simple sort, "You are my enemy and my prey. Any victory you achieve on the surface will be worthless for I while fight you nonetheless. Speed up the process, meet me above the clouds. Your destiny awaits." In only a moments time the light would strike Xoquoxitill harmlessly, relaying the message.

Suddenly, as the Shade began to attack again, an orb of light swiftly flew torwards Xoquoxitill. When it reached him, it stopped a few inches from him, then slowly sank into the Shade.
"...I will... be back...."
Xoquoxitill warped away, and reappeared in the sky a few yards behind Riul.
"...My destiny... is the... protection... of Ymaggion..."

Riul spun the eagle quickly; the bird flapped its wings slowly, hardly moving. "Speak lies no longer, fiend!" the Light Balance bellowed. "No longer will your presence in this world be tolerated. Your banishment is at hand. With little effort, Riul lifted her hands, and the clouds swirled about the two, creating an enclosed sphere around them. A moment longer, and the clouds were hardened. She'd received enough light energy from direct contact with the sun's rays; the battle would be in her favor.
Riul removed the Bow of Dreams from her back and pulled the string of the longbow taut. A golden shaft formed from her own magic, and the fingers that held the string in place released, sending an arrow straight toward her enemy.

Tsaul stopped and thought for a moment.
Wait a minute...Why would Xoquoxitil appear now. The setting is far from ideal, and there's no reason for him to be showing up here. He has no allies or edge now...why is he here? But he is one of the greatest liars of all time...why should we trust him now...?
