The Master Chief took a few steps forward and stopped upon hearing the voice that seemed to coming from the depths of his mind and took a sharp intake of breath. His audio receptors had not picked up anything out of the ordinary. "Must be hearing th--"
"No," Cortana quickly said, "no, I'm in your head. Remember, John? No, that voice was very really, but it was transmuted telepathically."
"Do you think it has anything to do with the--"
"There was nothing about that that would lead me to think it opened up long range telepathic channels, but I can't say for certain. Just be careful... it's more dangerous to sit here though." The Master Chief shook his head quickly as if to clear out the vestiges of the message and pulled a Spiker off the magnets that had been clipping it in place. In the other hand he removed the energy sword from his belt but chose to leave it deactivated. "C'mon, Chief. It's just a little farther ahead."
A nod from the Spartan was his only acknowledgement as he proceeded at a slightly slower pace, now more wary of his surroundings than before. A very short walk followed, but the Master Chief's pace slowed as the cover of trees began to falter. The pale brow beneath the helmet furrowed in a disturbed silence. Soon the trees were completely gone with only rough stones scattered throughout the openness. "Cortana... why is there a glade in the middle of the thickest rainforest on the planet?"
"Just like the passage says," Cortana replied smoothly, "take a few steps further."
The Administrator slowly stepped forward, and suddenly a change of the ground could be felt. A sloping, so gradual at first but quickly steepening as he took only a couple of steps. Suddenly he stopped. He didn't know how he had somehow changed the image to be something else at first, but now it was apparent. He was on a steep incline, cliffs could be seen in the near distance. The sloped open area the Spartan stood on quickly ended into a deep cliff. Between the cliffs was a sort of valley, very much like the rest of the rainforest, but it seemed somehow lacking in the consistant life that roamed everywhere else. In the density of the trees he thought he could make out the shape of a building worked from stone, but it was near his nav marker that still stood several hundred meters beyond his grasp.
The warrior turned his head and took everything into view, it was like a large "U" that had been made by cliffs, cliffs that were empty of vegetation at their edges. "'The glades create rays from distant days...'" Cortana quoted "it's plural. This is the place, Chief. 'Distant days'... I am not sure the meaning of this. My best guess is it's referring to the last rays of the sun as the day has passed and now become only a memory. The 'maze' that is quoted must not be literal, but down there is definitely depths, and at the end of the day the sun should hit those trees beyond the glades and shine rays to the opposite side of the canyon."

As the Master Chief walked forward, the Shade could be seen more clearly, floating there above the U-shaped crevice. Where the eyes would have been on his full-facemask, glowed purple, and there were 4 of them. As the high-tech armored man got even closer, he seemed to get heavier with every step, his weight threatening to make him slip down the slanted earth. His heart beat faster and started to weigh down on his chest. If he goes even further than this he'll experience what seems worse than just a painful heart attack. He could tell, that it was coming from this Shade.
"The Artifacts must not be touched... Go back... now."
If the Master Chief does slip down this slant, the Shade will unleash a rather large ball of unusual energy at him and possibly knock him out...

Kasdim-Ur sighed as the armored person shrugged him off, that could only mean one thing. The bastard must of saw through his disguise. It was a 50/50 situation now, they thought of him simply as an illusion, rather than a temporarily disembodied spirit. They thought him harmless, heh.
He began to walk, following the both of them. He stayed within relatively close distance, about 10 feet. Shouldn't bother them. "So hows life Tsual?" He asked in an attempt to make conversation.

OOC: Samus is female and you call her a bastard...?
"Sucks, especially since bro died," He said as he kept walking without turning, "Oh and by the way, Samus, who ended up taking over Square Enix moderation?"

(OOC: Don't worry, Dranzer, think of it as tradition!)
Samus looked back as much as her armor would allow, seeing Tsual out of the corner of her eye. "Kite McKnights did," she said, "He's been given Administration duties over the Colosseum."
The path was sloping upwards now, but the ground remained even. Hints of the path were starting to show up once more. Switching to her Scan Visor to check, she saw the pathway light up in green, indicating she was on the path she had already scanned. Good. She switched back to the Combat Visor. "As it is, he's been difficult to work with him, as he has a bad tendency to act without orders and do reckless stunts. It only got worse after Dranzer's murder. As it his, his current pet project is looking for you, which is why I said you should go debrief," she continued, "Which, I might add, was a habit your brother ingrained on me while he showed me the ropes."

Tsaul was a little unhappy when he heard Kite's name.
"Kite's a good person with good intentions, but he has his issues. I can see why they'd pen a loose cannon like him in the collesium; any other staff job up for grabs he'd have no chance. He doesn't follow any rules but his own, and he generally is willing to blur the lines to get what he wants; i've seen it. I'm not surprised though about Kite following me. I've had one of his old buddies trailing me for the past few weeks. Black leather, lots of scars, I think his name was Ferus, but I forget at the minute; i'd guess he knows about that and that's why he's so OCD about it. "
He noticed a fork in the road up ahead. He decided a PM to Samus would be helpful here.
Okay, I don't trust the guy tailing us as far as I can throw him. I've heard his voice before. He was part of a hunt that I was in the crossfire of, and I know that the group he was with hangs out in the uncharted areas of the forest. I think they referred to him as Kasdim-Ur; ring any bells?

(OOC: Bastard is a term for a child born out of wedlock as I'm sure you know, and besides I doubt Samus' suit gives off any signs of gender.)
"So where exactly are we going?" Kasdim-Ur asked casually as though he were invited along, "Most of this place is just dense jungle, and empty ruins." He stopped and checked out the fork in the road, it didn't have any signs or anything, no indications of what lay ahead. In fact both paths seemed almost identical, except for the dark clouds that loomed to the east.

"Ferus," Samus muttered, keeping her eyes ahead on the path as she quickly made a reply PM to Tsual's question. "Doesn't surprise me he's still on the loose. Those two Mirror-Mes with them are probably helping him, too."
Who he is isn't that important right now. So long as he stays out of my way, I don't really care, though I don't like the fact both of you are following me at the moment. But there's nothing I can really do about that. I'm interested in neither the plantlife around here, or the members of the cult of Kasdim-Ur.
~Samus Aran
As the path came up, Samus looked off towards the east, where the dark clouds lay. Looked like a storm was coming in, not that it mattered to her with her Phazon Suit equipped. The illusion or whatever it was wouldn't have to worry, either, it was Tsual who'd get uncomfortable, unless they found temporary shelter. She stopped at the crossroads, but did not look down the other path. Instead, she lifted up her Plasma Beam and charged, causing a reddish gout of fire to burst up from the barrel, and sparks of magma to jump from the middle of the arm cannon.
"We'll be going this way," she replied to the interloper following her and Tsual. She aimed at the largest tree in the middle and fired, causing the entire plantform to disintegrate, leaving a large, charred mark on the ground and revealing a rocky structure behind it, high enough to keep most out from on top of it.
Not enough for Samus' suit, however. She jumped up once, then activated the Space Jump thrusters and made a flip in the air, landing neatly on the flattest part of the rock. She turned around and looked down at the two of them. "Are either of you able to get up here on your own, or will I need to Grapple you up?" she asked, her words neither friendly nor hostile. As she normally was when on a mission.

Tsaul gave her a very pointed look, then jumped up. He summoned the distorted R.E.M. angel wings to his back as they grew. He took two sharp beats with the wings and was able to glide up and over next to Samus.
"No, not really."

Kasdim-Ur walked on and over to the wall, he gripped ahold of some vines than dangled down from above, and in a moment, had managed to pull himself up. Or at least appeared to do all this. Even though they already knew something was off, he didn't have to cut loose with powers or anything. He extended his hand forward along the path, in a gesture to continue, and once again began to walk forward. Gazing up at the dark clouds, he began to walk a little faster. It wasn't that he disliked rain, he actually enjoyed it, but it would take a little more effort to make it look like the rain could actually touch him.

The Master Chief did not outwardly falter one bit as the voice came through his head once more. Cortana spoke before he could comment, however. "Warning. I'm detecting an energy source floating above this massive trench."
"Do you know what it is?" the Master Chief questions silently.
"No, it looks similar to some other coding, I'd have to run tests we don't have time for."
"Right, I have a plan then," the Master Chief's voice was dangerously low and began moving very slowly toward the edge of the steep slant until it dropped off near vertically. He peered downward for a moment, and his body suddenly fell limp. The soldier's body plumetted like a stone into a pond, dropping the height of over two hundred meters in mere seconds. A moment before the crash into a small water pool, his overshield was activated and the flare of his shields was masked by the rising of water. His overshield was quickly gone from the fall, but the body was gone completely. A heat wave, however, now appeared to be quickly moving away from the water and into the center of the "U" shaped canyon.

As soon as the heat wave passed, the Shade hovered down and to the pond. Then, using his Reality Manipulation he turned the water into steam, to reveal the Master Chief. Only, he was gone.
The Shade, slightly confused, let out a memory implant energy orb, and sent it to look for the Spartan. If it should find him, it will be absorbed into his head, giving him a memory. This memory will make sure that the Hi-Tech Armored Administrator will NOT touch the 'Artifacts'.

OOC: No, the Master Chief is no longer in the water, as the line "...from the fall, but the body was gone completely." states.

OOC: Okay, I'ma try to be completely back now.
The Master Chief moved through the jungle with a silent speed, careful not to read a path that was too noticable. After about thirty seconds the active camo that had covered his armor began to wane, and soon the Scout Permutation revealed itself for a moment before the camo effect of the armor took place. He moved for a short distance in this form and soon found a shadowy overhang that he moved into the cover of. Nearly a hundred percent invisible, he spoke to Cortana, "Am I still being followed by something?"
Cortana replied almost instantly as she'd be processing the question before it had even escaped the mouth of the Spartan, "You're being looked for, Chief, but I don't think it's found your trail yet. Whatever is seeking you though is different than what was over the canyon."
The Master Chief shook his head slightly and moved out of the cover, "It's never easy is it?"
