"Are you kidding me?" Shifter asked incredulously. "You'd get eaten alive in a town like Rogueport! You need someone like us around."
Looking over at his usual companion, he added, "Besides, now that you've piqued Laura's interest, I can't stop her from going."

Laura blushed slightly at the comment, wanting to shift the blame for the trip aware from herself but realizing it wouldn't do any good. Instead she just nodded and said a little quieter, "Besides, you're not that much older than us, y'know. This is a video game, a place where ages don't set boundaries anymore. I've seen kids who could best a thirty-year-old guy in a fight, because this isn't reality anymore."
Crossing her arms and looking at Joe firmly, she hoped her point would not be lost to him. She was a getting a little worried about traveling to Rogueport as well now, but she knew that a lot of it would be mental games. We'll be fine if we stick together, she thought worriedly. I think.

Joe smiled grimly, "Laura..." he began solemnly, "your words are brave, but your face says differently. I'm not going to drag you somewhere you don't want to go. You've shown me kindness, and I'm going to return the favor. Don't come unless you're sure."
He glanced towards Shifter, then shook his head, "same goes for you. I'm going there to find my wife. If you don't want to come, then don't. I can take care of myself."
Again he felt part of himself rage against the rest, you need their help you moron. But then a quiet voice answered back, not if I get them killed, or whatever happens when you die in this game.
He stood still, hoping his expression had hidden the emotions that had run rampant across it a moment ago. "So, I'm asking you to be sure. Not half-sure, not mostly sure. But 'Sure', do you want to go? Or don't you?"

(( OOC: Ick, short post is short. ))
Laura's face hardened at Joe's words, "Hey, just because I don't fight myself, doesn't mean I'm afraid of everyone else who does. You are not going to drag me anywhere. You need our help and you know it, so don't try and get yourself in a personal argument whether or not we should come, because I suggested this, you didn't prod me toward it ruthlessly. I know Rogueport's dangerous, and that's all the more reason you need our help!"

"Its not like we'll show up unprepared," Shifter continued where Laura left off. "The fact that we know Rogueport can be dangerous will make sure we're more careful there."
His eyes seemed to become glazed over, but any player who had spent a decent amount of time playing the game Ymaggion would recognize when someone was managing their private messenger inbox. Shifter was writing up a number of PMs to send out to other players.
"Like I said before, I've never been to Rogueport before," he said to Joe and Laura while he worked on the messages. "But I do know a few people who have. I'll ask them if they have any advice other than 'Stay the hell out'."

Joe growled quietly, but nodded his head. It had been a foolish hope, trying to dissuade them. But he was glad of the company. "right, so...I suppose now we wait."
(OOC) Blegh, my post isn't to long either.

"Well, maybe not wait," Shifter said lightly as he sent out some more PMs. "We should find something to do, or Laura will get brain damage from bouncing too much."

Laura scowled at Shifter but promptly changed the subject away from herself, "The cruise ship has a lot of fun activities. I hear there's a rock climbing contest tonight, winner gets a cabin upgrade to something that wouldn't normally be free." She couldn't stop herself this time, and Laura's face broke into a wide grin. "There's also an arena onboard, last I checked. It's nothing like the colloseum, but you can enter it with a friend or two and win some cool prizes."
She glanced around at her companions, hoping they would either have some more ideas or agree to do something.

Joe thought about it, "well..." He began slowly. "I'm not much of a rock climber, but I guess we could give it a try." He mulled over her ideas for a few more moments, and then spoke again, "I don't know about you two. But I've had experience in arena-like fights, so that might be better."
He glanced at the others, then shrugged. "Yeah, I'm not much fun am I." He said wryly.

The glassy look in Shifter's eyes went away as he closed down the PM manager for his character. "Rock climbing sounds too easy for me," he said with a chuckle, thinking of his Space-Shifting capabilities. "The Arena might be a good idea, though. We could get in some practice before we reach Rogueport."

Laura smirked at her companions when they turned down the rock climbing competition. In truth, she had intend on doing it simply to win the item. With a bit of subtle levitation it would be a cake-walk. Both of them seemed interested in the concept of fighting, however, and she nodded in agreement with them, "The arena thing does sound good." With a glance to Joe she informed him of her ability, "My character is designed around healing, so I can play that spot for you guys. How is it that you fight, Joe?"
The floating girl took a moment to lower herself to the ground again, incase she became too excited and began embarassing herself again. She was indeed excited, though. She hadn't done something this interesting in the game in weeks now, and she hoped that this would put to rest any worries about being in trouble while in Rogueport.

Joe paused for a moment, he wasn't positive on how to explain his combat style. "I suppose," he began thoughtfully, "I'm something of a quick-striker. I use long-knives, and light-weight armor, so I can't really stay in a protracted fight. I pick a target, and try to neutralize it as fast as possible, build up momentum and keep on fighting. Something like an assassin, would be the best way to describe how I fight." He paused again, then smiled crookedly, "one of the reasons my last name is Nimble, I keep moving."

"Oh, so there's two of us quick-strikers, huh?" Shifter commented with a grin. "Well, I'm sure our opponents will really appreciate that."

Laura frowned, "Just don't go running into an attack, you two." She glanced at an overhead clock, then quickly reverted her gaze back to the information board. "Looks like it's going to start within the hour, we should see if we're still allowed to sign up. Sign says it's this way," Laura said while jerking her thumb down a hallway of sorts.

"you're the healer, I'll try not to get too far ahead," Joe replied amiably. He turned and started down the hallway after Laura. He was surprised to find that he was actually enjoying the prospect of a fight, maybe this game world wasn't so bad after all.
