OOC: This occurs before Sturm shows up but right after the hacking device gets thrown to Kite. The posting got screwed up because this took forever to type and DL changed his post to bring Sturm into this.
Kite got up off the ground and merely sidestepped the device when he saw it, choosing to back away a good 10 yards. He charged a shining finger and fired, destroying it, causing a rather large explosion. Kite had a feeling that the exchange was far too easy, "At least you put in the effort to try..."
He sighed and gave Darklighter a look, "Also, according to staff channels, Sturm's been missing for two days; he escaped the room during what was supposed to be a transfer."
"Regardless, while I originally was going to fight you after that I destroyed that, I can't see a point to killing someone over anything that's happened today. You're not worth my time; you can be as insincere and biting as you want; I don't give a damn; you're just a pesky pain in the ass to me. I don't care what you do now, rebuild, do whatever, just leave me alone now" He said dropping his head as he let his hair cover his eyes.
He looked at Darklighter, "Granted i'd love to get a shot at you for killing in cold blood, but I can't see a point since the boy will respawn and so will you most likely anyways so there'd be no point in fighting anyways. Besides that, i'm sure Sturm will catch up to you soon, and I think that should be justice enough."
He turned to leave the premises before adding one quick detail, "Just remember this, twice, between here and the bunker, I could have hauled your ass into the staff and you most likely would have been incarcerated and had your life ruined. Twice I saved you from ruin. The third time..."
He trailed off for a second before hoisting his gunblades onto his back so they were there. He turned away again and before walking finished his sentence, "...your life becomes ruins, just like mine has."
Kite proceeded to walk out of the town; he knew exactly what he just said. This mortified Jin to his inner-most being.
"You're leaving a criminal band that may or may not be responsible for numerous crimes here...?! You fool!" Jin said.
This caused Kite to stop, "Am I the fool? Always trusting my gut, never just following procedure, you know what maybe Rua is right, it's idiots like you that make our system ineffective."
He turned to Jin,"Are you coming or not. Because if you're fighting them i'm sure as hell leaving your ass here."
Jin was again flabbergasted. It wasn't like Kite to back down from a fight, and granted normally he (Jin) was a pacifist, but Jin couldn't help but want to fight these guys for killing an innocent as well as the possible other charges. It would be a glorious arrest that would look good on his record. It was then it hit him; Kite was broken. All of the lack of faith in him had driven him to the edge and he finally stopped caring; Kite was so morally confused and had grown so cynical of his life that nothing seemed to matter to him anymore.
"You can be as pissy as you want, Jin. I'm not fighting them. You could kill me here on the spot if you wanted. I used to You know what I understand now, that we're not perfect. I'm living proof of that, no one believes me anymore; my girlfriend won't speak to me; my coworkers mock my ideals; and my life and career are over just because I did what I felt was right. Maybe I am the fool, maybe my methods are wrong; I don't care anymore, because I know one thing, nobody's perfect. You of all people should know that, you and your 'mea culpa' bullshit." Kite was starting to sound extremely unusual.
Jin took massive offense to this and put one of his desert eagles to Kite's head, "You son of a bitch!"
Kite turned to Jin,"Do me a favor and pull that trigger. I dare you. I'm tired of no one believing me. Everyone thinks i'm nuts, but I still haven't been wrong yet, but that doesn't seem to matter to anyone. I'm done here."
At this, Kite walked away into the forest, presumably to go to town and think things over.
Jin sighed and turned to the order,"Next time..."
Jin quickly followed Kite out of the area, with a slight grimace and a mood of discontent. On the plus side, he could report Kite to Gahm about this, but what did it matter, Gahm was never around and it wouldn't even bug Kite anyways anymore.
This was a pointless battle to the staff and this resulted in the withdrawal of any possible troops as well. The staff involvement was over.
