A large door in the corner of the room swung open, and Kasdim-Ur walked in slowly, a chunk of rock lifting itself out of the lava and floating toward him. Has hands moved in the motions of clapping, but without flesh on his hands it came off as more of a metallic clinking. "My my my," the Lich said slowly, an illusion of a face shimmering over his skull for a brief moment to indicate he would be smiling, "I almost even felt pain from my astral projection. That was quite a hit, but I'm afraid it is quite useless now. This temple empowers me beyond the reckoning of any mortal, and I will use it to destroy you."
The platform he was standing on lifted up, carrying him high above Tsaul's current position. "You will not die a quick death, human," Kasdim stated with malice in his voice as his bony hands stretched forward and clenched the air, quickly rising up with his arms in a thrusting motion. Far beneath him, the lava began to churn, threatening to overturn anything floating in it.
The Lich began mutter an incantation a mixture of different languages combining into one. "What once was living has now become dead, but what was once dead power has now been given life!" The lava shot outward, but not toward Tsaul. Towers upon towers of huge streams of lava spiraled toward the Lich, wrapping itself around his form until he stood nearly twenty feet taller, the lava hardening as all of it had now left the pool, leaving Tsaul plenty of room to move. Despite the quantity, the lava had seemed to condense itself, making the Lich stand a mere twenty-five feet high, with a shoulder width of another five.
His skin had be come molten now, covered almost completely by rock, with patches of running lava beneath it, but in the chest place lava freely ran, creating a spire of the burning substance. ( Despite color changes, the image is similar to a Infernal from Warcraft. )
The Lich's body could be seen floating in the liquid now, suspended by the flows. As the beast raised a giant fist, fire exploding from it, a shout could be heard from deep inside the monster, "Reflect this, mortal!" The fist went crashing down, straight toward Tsaul. The Master Chief felt himself lift off the ground completely, despite the immense weight of his own armor, the power of the Nintendo Administrator crashing into him was more than enough to seemingly topple a vehicle. The attack stopped immediately as she made contact, and the force went straight to his armor, causing a large dent from her shoulder to be formed on contact. As the Chief smashed into the ground, Cortana quickly assessed the situation.
Excellent, not only have you completely taken the upper hand over the Chief, but his shields have been damaged to nearly 10%. Even if he gets up he won't last long. I recommend another blow to incapacitate him further, and if you can deliver an energy blow with ice, you should freeze his entire system. This thing entered in by water, but for some reason his heat readings are nearly boiling. Ice should stop everything. Act quickly.

"Affirmative," Samus said as Cortana filed the information into her brain. She went straight to work, lifting up her arm cannon and bringing it down hard on the Master Chief's dark red helmet, which would easily jolt the complicated systems within it and probably knock him out.
She didn't stop there. She planted her foot on the Chief's breastplate and forced him further into the ground while she switched around her weapon systems. Orange light covered the arm cannon for a moment before it receded, and the top expanded upwards while releasing a frigid mist. Taking aim at the Master Chief's upper torso, Samus locked on and fired. The blast hit almost instantly, and the ice spread through the armor and into the ground below him, pinning him in place.

Tsaul was mortified at what had befallen him. Now, not only had his attacks served basically no purpose, his opponent was bigger and strong than him in nearly every regard. He smirked as he thought of the only way out of this. It went against everything he had ever done, but this was a fight that couldn't be fought under his moral code. He dove forward towards the newly created mainland. Tsaul's leap, while graceful, was not quite enough to fully clear the lava, which the front half of his left foot found out rather abruptly.
"Roaaagghhh!" Tsaul cried out in pain as he limped around the main land.
"This place doesn't just fuel the dead pal..."
Tsaul started to glow an brilliant orange as energy appeared to surge through him.
"Heat is nothing more than an excess of raw energy in a substance. Granted, I can absorb the energy through convection currents, but you'd be surprised just how much faster I can absorb energy through direct contact..."
Though his foot throbbed, he made a concerted effort to keep any energy levels in it to a minimum to keep the pain sensors in his nerves from operating at full capacity.
"I can do this all day pal, let's see how much juice you've got..."

(( OOC: Ehe... so like... one month later...
... ))
Streams of lava shot up toward the Lich's arm, wrapping themselves around it quickly to transform the appendage into nearly a glove of molten rock. Again, the fist swung, this time aiming just short of Tsaul, the lava flying off in a wave headed straight toward him.
The Master Chief's armor hissed dangerously as the ice slammed into it, the shields fading with a final flicker as the ice began crawling through the cracks. In a matter of moments, the color of red began to subside throughout the whole structure, receding the to the point in his back where the ice had entered, finally diminishing into a needle-sized point that vanished completely in another moment.
Mentally Cortana held her breath, waiting for a movement from the Chief. Seconds seemed like hours, but soon the Chief stirred, his shoulder twitching slightly as his voice came through the intercom, "You can take your foot off me now, Miss Aran."
Not yet, Cortana spoke warningly inside Samus' head, I need you to put me inside his armor so I can destroy whatever foreign programming is left in there. A scream pierced the room, the scream of a young girl. Now!

"Be careful," Samus said to the A.I. construct, before removing the container chip from her armor. Keeping her boot firmly in the middle of the Master Chief's back, she inserted the chip into a slot on the back of the man's helmet, allowing Cortana back into the MJOLNIR armor's complicated structure.
She decided to make conversation with the man in the meantime, if only to distract him while Cortana did whatever work she needed to do on his armor's systems. "You're a complete pain in the ass in combat, you know that, John?" she said, almost amiably. "If Cortana hadn't been assisting me with my battle suit, I probably wouldn't have been able to take you down."
To her credit, she sounded a lot less concerned than she actually was. That scream... that had to have been from Riul. And if there was something out there that could make the Balance of Light scream in pain, then she'd need help, and quickly. But there was still Kasdim-Ur within this dreadful cavern, fighting a much more inferior opponent. Which one did she go after first?

Tsaul shuffled to his left side without much hesitation and called up a mirror pulse. He forced the pulse into one of the edges of the incoming wave and held his hands there. This diverted the flow to his side, although a few drops fell onto his arms, making him hiss in pain.
"Come on, I appreciate the creativity, but you sacrificed so much quality."

"Foolish human," Kasdim-Ur bellowed toward Tsaul, "there is a time for every human where the survival rate drops to zero, and yours is growing near!" The collossal beast raised his hands, and the ceiling shuddered as if something massive were grasping it. A moment later pieces began to fall and Kasdim-Ur could be heard cackling amidst the roar of crumbling rock. Lava from his hands shot forth, melting the falling rock into deathly streams and meteors heading straight for where Tsaul was located.
The Master Chief's body shuddered slightly as Cortana breached his system once more, and her voice spoke up moments later, "Thank you Samus, he should be fine." As the foot was lifted, the Master Chief pushed himself up from the floor, a larger crater where he had been previously still remaining. "I think I've found a way to Riul, we should move immediately."
The Spartan nodded, "She takes priority over Tsaul. Loss of the Balance of Light is unacceptable." He glanced around, feeling his hip and back for any weapons, the energy sword had been using seemed completely crushed now as it lay on the floor a few meters away. "I need a weapon," he said half distractedly.
"No time for that Chief," Cortana redirected, "there's no telling what could make Riul scream like that. If her mind's been penetrated we could have much larger problems than anything here." The Spartan nodded and turned, following the NAV point system that Cortana had already sent up, relaying the information to Samus' HUD as well.
The farthest point was a hundred meters from their location, a quick run. Without another word the Master Chief turned toward the exit of the room, picking his pace up to a slow run for him, not wanting to leave Samus behind. The tunnels they passed through seemed perfectly stable, like this was entirely planned. How long had they known that there would be people here? Had players stumbled on this place before? Two turns and several meters later, the Master Chief turned another corner and looked at a terrible sight.
Riul lay crumpled on the ground, curled up slightly and shuddering. Blood stained her robe, and all of the Extensions of Awai were now gone. Scores of corpses lay around her pulsating body, the sound of sobs echoing from where she lay. "Please... not again," she said softly, her voice cracking in the middle of words. The shape of Gun'Drak came down mercilessly, his foot smashing into her quivering side, sending her small frame skidding across the floor another several feet, the rough stun slicing up Riul's skin even more.
"This is all that you have to represent the 'Light' of your world, is it?" Gun'Drak spoke deeply, a wide grin splitting his face. "If that is so, then I have lain waste to your 'Light' and all else will soon fall behind it!" The Master Chief felt his entire body tense, any pain or feeling that would suppress him from desroying any enemy in his path quickly vanished. In so many books he had read in his spare time, as light reading, it seemed the hero always could deliver when necessary. He had a name for that feeling now: Hate and Adrenaline.

Samus did not respond to Gun'Drak's arrogant claim of triumph as he ruthlessly attacked the fallen Balance of Light. She didn't even really think. Her emotions, in turmoil as they were, slid over the icy mindset she set for herself during her missions into the unknown. They did not affect her.
Samus Aran was not a woman of thought. Oh, she was far from unintelligent, and more than capable of identifying underlying details and she was quite capable of forming effective plans, even on the fly in combat. However, she was a woman of action. She did not muse over what was happening, of the horror of it all.
Instead, she did what came natural. Her right hand snapped up with inhuman reflexes and let fly with the charged Plasma Beam that torched the air as it streaked for Gun'Drak's visage.

Gun'Drak turned on the spot, his body shifting out and becoming slightly invisible, as if it were half there and half elsewhere. Samus' attack went straight through him, creating a small hole in the image, which closed nearly instantly. His voice boomed through the huge room, "Kill them. Now." He raised his hand with the command and dropped it as he finished speaking, and the cultists turned toward the two administrators, fireballs, weapons, and all sorts of atrocities appearing quickly at their disposal.
The area seemed to shift, the architecture changing again and the two staff members found themselves standing on a large circle in the floor, the cultists ringed around them. In the distance behind them Gun'Drak was now seated atop a large throne once more, his hand under his chin as he watched interestedly. "Right," the Chief said, calmly despite his anger. "You take the ranged ones with that cannon of yourself, and I'll destroy anything and everything else that makes its way into this circle."
With a glance up, John realized the fight would be even more complicated as enemies were now starting to pour out of holes in the ceiling. Enemies began lumbering, leaping, and crawling toward them, fireballs being charged from a distance. It would be one hell of a fight.

"There's an easier way," Samus said, observing the monsters. "A far easier way. Charge your shields to maximum. I don't know if this will affect them."
She ducked and rolled in on herself, causing her armor to glow as energy charged it. Within moments, Samus had entered her Morph Ball form.

As the Master Chief was about to reproach Samus' change in his plan another enemy through itself towards him, body lit ablaze in a human inferno. Crushing blows deflected the enemy quickly, grabbing it by the ankles and hurling it into another assaulter. A moment later a fireball from a ranged enemy came hurtling his way, searing his shields as he rolled out of its path. With a string of curses in his head he only muttered irritatedly, "Bounty hunters."

It did not take long for Samus to act once she was in the Morph Ball form of her Chozo battlesuit. As soon as the Master Chief had cleared the immediate area around her, she released one of her Power Bombs. Immediately, the powerful weapon detonated, causing a sharp, rising hum of energy to spike around her as the weapon went off.
Light and energy blazed out around her spherical form, passing through the area indiscriminately as the monsters and cultists did their best to escape. It was futile for them--as the energy impacted their unprotected bodies, the bomb quickly disintegrated them, causing them to emit sharp squeals and screams of pain before they disappeared entirely.

As Samus began her attack, Cortana quickly analyzed the situation, but before she could even give her suggestion the Master Chief was already moving for cover, rolling behind a large piece of stone, facing away from Samus. A moment later the light filled the room, and the Master Chief's shields flared and failed instantly. However, thanks to the brevity of the blast his shields did take all the damage that would come his way from the explosive.
"A little anti-climatic, don't you think?" Cortana muttered idly. The Master Chief rolled his eyes inside of his helm. What was this, a movie? A second later and his shields were back, and the armored figure rose from his cover. Gun'Drak's eyes locked onto his figure at once and smiled cruely at the Spartan, the eyeless face boring holes through the tinted visor.
Gun'Drak shot a hand out, pointing with a dark bony finger at the Master Chief then curling the finger in a sort of "Come here" motion. Immediately the Spartan was lifted from his feet, invisible hands grasping him and pulling him toward the leader. Three armored figures appeared from the shadows, their hands held out in front of them and looking as if they were grasping something. The Master Chief's armor darkened, the lights dissapearing, and his body went limp, suspending in the air in front of Gun'Drak.
"Foolish mortals," the man spat, directing his words toward Samus now. "You will be disciplined by the might of Kasdim!" As he spoke this a shimmering sword appearing in the air, descending toward the Master Chief's suspended figure, and at the slow falling rate the blade would strike in a minute or less. Before Samus could act on this, Gun'Drak teleported, appearing nearly ten feet in front of the Nintendo Administrator, a bolt of shadow flinging from his hands straight for her, "Defy the might of the gods and your mortality can be preserved. Ironic isn't it?" Gun'Drak's laugh shook the floor.

Tsaul winced slightly as he realized that there was simply no way to turn the streams against Kasdim-Ur from this; however, that didn't mean that is was hopeless, far from it actually. He sprinted at Kasdim-ur with a fist suddenly pulled back and glowing.
You fool. You left yourself wide open in an effort to make my death so utterly spectacular!? Amateur!
"Fun fact: certain doom is a matter of perspective."
He came within striking distance and launched the repulsor fist at Kasdim-Ur aiming straight under and to the right of his jaw.
