Zackarias acted as though he was following behind at first, but as the group of Alphas and Felix got ahead, Zack became invisible once more and crept back down to the Storage Facility. Going back to room where he had found the desk with the paper, he sat down, then holding the paper in one hand and making a ball of flame in the other. The paper read:
Desk of Brandow 20XX, February 24 PROJECT STATUS
Ever since the day you gave us the suggestion and the order, we have been working on the invention that will make us the most powerful. Over the years, we've tried many different things, machinery, injections, and even things as trivial as talking. However, no matter how close we got, these always seemed to end in failure.
...Until we recently came upon a strange object that a few of the 'workers' dug up. A strange jewel that glew on its own. We have done various studies on said item, and have yet to even scratch the surface of it, quite literally, as well. We tried drills, blunt objects, and even tasks as simple as dropping it out a window. The gem just won't break.
A chemical test showed that the gem is mainly made of silver, making this even more baffling, since silver is a soft metal, especially nowadays. The jewel is also reflective, like a mirror. One day, we discovered something with it, that the prisoners here react to it. Sometimes negatively or positively.
So, we've hooked it up to one of our machines, and used it on a Zeta, and only for a second or two. It was phenominal! The Zeta had easily grown in strength, not enough to be considered another rank, but still, the change was indeed noticable. However, this made a large shift in the Zeta's' attitude...
So, we needed to up the amplifiers on him for a little while, but thankfully not too long. If we don't find a way to control the mood swing side effect, then we'd easily have a rebellion on our hands, and defenetly NOT the perfect of soldiers. We testied more, and only one result was interesting enough.
That serum, it seems to have a random effect on those influcened by the treasure, so it might or might not be our solution with this problem. We have not made a name for this project yet, being there is no set pattern for it as of now. So, I hope you find this information useful enough to let us continue to work.
Signing out, Professor Brandow

Two days passed at the facility of Sanguix. Wounds were treated, bodies were removed, and the two forces left the facility alone. Perhaps it was the sheer power that could nearly be felt emanating from the facility, perhaps it was just the knowledge, or even lack of knowledge, of what was there. At any rate, those there were now free.
A pair of Alphas began to rise to the leadership place. Awai and Kuro, both powerful, yet polar opposites of one another. Kuro constantly was trying to convince the other Alphas that they had the upper hand now, and that they could easily claim this world for their own. Awai firmly countered this argument every time by saying that there was little to no point in this, and that the best plan for the Sanguinians would be best off leaving and blending into the world. Arguments such as these could go on for hours, but both resisted the temptation to resolve things with physical measures. After two days though, this temptation broke both of them.
"We can lead this together, Kuro, you just don't want to," Awai said placidly during one of their arguments on the second night.
"Lead them together?" Kuro snarled in disgust, his rage finally breaking through, "why should people with such amazing ability be led by someone like you who can't lead at all!? All you want them to do is feel better, but until what? Until they hit us with what they did last time?"
"I destroyed that, Kuro, I destroyed all of that. There is no pain now for our people," Awai replied.
"These disgraces for human beings, they can always remake it. Besides, what of the lower levels? They could be taken, experimented on, and turned into something that could take them to the next level. Are you willing to risk that, Awai?"
"I'd rather risk that than risk charging into a raging war and fighting two fronts!" Awai retorted, his own temper, as small as it was, was heating up.
"Is that it then? Are you so weak mentally you would rather hide in your hole and wait to be shot instead of taking the enemy head on? It was no wonder you were captured then, I bet you just let them take you. Let them take you, and all the others with you. Did you know, Awai, that those three Deltas with you all died when the Europeans came? Your passive nature failed, and it cost those less fortunate than you their life."
"That will be quite enough, Kuro," Awai said sharply, energy radiating from his body.
"I thought we'd be leading this together? You can't order me around, Awai, I'm stronger than you. Strong enough to at least give my attackers Hell before they hit me!"
"I said ENOUGH!" Awai bellowed, firing a beam of light straight at Kuro.
The attack hit, and left a large burn mark in Kuro's chest. "So this is it, is it?" Kuro asked, grinning, "we're going to dual here, and I'm going to destroy you." Kuro stomped a foot into the ground, and the room the two were in was destroyed immediately by pillars of dark fire leaving a large flat area.
Their battle was over in moments, several people had begun to watch from windows and higher levels, and what was seen was rarely ever recounted. Both Alphas simultaneously fire beams, one of light, one of darkness. The two beams collided with one another, and a massive explosion shook the entire complex. When it dissipated, Kuro was gone, and Awai lay on his back, devoid of life. Despite Riul's best efforts, there was no reviving him.

Zackarias simply crossed his arms, closed his eyes, and shook his head at the sight. There was a simple solution to this problem, but neither was willing to see it. Not like they'd listen to a simple Gamma anyhow... well, as far as everyone else knew. Zack had found that machine after about a day of searching, the Americans hid it pretty well.
But after using it, the boy didn't feel all that different. Maybe a tad bit stronger, but that was about it. Zack had also decided to keep said machine a secret, just Incas. "I'd better find the others...", Zackarias then whispered to himself, walking off, opening his eyes and uncrossing his arms. The family couldn't have went away or anything like that.
Walking down the hall, the Gamma came to a familiar little room, the Mess Hall where all the disgusting meals had been served. Well, they were starting to get better now, but still weren't all that great. But then another, rare, sight came to be. Zack saw his female cousin, Krystal, sitting around looking sad, a small tear rolling down her face.
"Something the matter?", the boy asked, almost aloud. Krystal suddenly shot up, and wiped the tear from her face. "Just fine!", she replied strongly. But then, her face slowly looked down at the floor, then she said, "Well, I guess I'm just a little sad that Awai had to die, and that monster Kuro might still be around somewhere."
Huh. Zackarias had forgotten about that. Krystal had been rooting for Awai's' argument about blending in with 'full' humans, pretending to be perfectly normal. Zack found it strange that for once, he had seen a problem with this, while she had not. Since it was her usually correcting him on, well, lots of things.

A weary Riul entered the old Mess Hall, her hands stained with blood from healing others. Overhearing Krystal's comment, she made her way over. "Don't worry about Kuro," she said tiredly, "the only reason why his body wasn't there was because Awai's attack was stronger, it not only killed Kuro, but completely destroyed his body. You can call him a monster, but in his own eyes he just wanted the best for us. I can't say I really agreed with him, but then again I didn't completely agree with Awai either. The world has nothing for me. I may have been arbitrarily ranked "Alpha" be the Americans, but I'm still a thirteen... or is it fourteen? I can't even remember now. Rank rarely has to do with intelligence, so anyone else here I will treat with the respect of a human being, be they Zeta or Alpha. However, I intend to take this facility. I have the ability to run it, and right now I'm trying to convince others to stay as well. The world has nothing for us. Should we use our powers in it, we would be found. Should we attempt to blend in, we just be thrown onto the streets. The only family I have left is right here, interesting as he is, but I intend to stay and build this place up, and I would be very happy if you two would stay. As long as I live I will make sure it is safe here."

Krystal lightened up a little bit after hearing how Kuro had been obliterated. "Well, I'll stay.", she then said, turning to Riul. "I hope you'll do a good job." Zackarias just seemed to... stare, at Riul for a minute, also like he was actually thinking about something for once. "Well, I suppose I'll stay too.", he said, then turning and walking off.
This time the Gamma was headed for the building that he often had to do clean out duty on. Many of the Deltas and Gammas seemed to have been working on it still, but this time volentarily, not as slave work. And really, it was starting to look rather nice. Among one of those working was another cousin of Zack's', Joshua.
Josh grunted as he moved some rubble out of the way, a tad frustraited, he had been on the side of Kuro, wanting to wipe out the humans who'd harm him, and seeing as how Kuro was obliterated, well... "So, anything new?", Zackarias asked, really just watching what Josh was doing. Joshua in response turned around with a bit of an irritated look.
"You know very well what...", the cousin replied. "But nevermind that, what'd you come here for, Zack?" Zackarias in return made a gesture as if to say, 'Not much.' He didn't really know what to say. "I can't believe Kuro was obliterated while that goody-two-shoes Awai got to keep his body!", Josh exclaimed. "It's just not fair..."

"And how do you propose on doing that?" a young man's voice said, behind Riul.
The one Alpha who had addressed Zack and Felix two days earlier had entered behind the teenager, still dressed in those bland uniforms like everyone else. He was picking at the sleeve, not looking at the girl directly. "Sure, you're an Alpha, but that's only because of your healing abilities, Riul. You've got combat abilities, sure, but they're not up to par with the rest of them. You're gonna need help," he said, letting go of the sleeve, "And you'll need the help of some Alphas, and not all of them are willing to do that. Hell, most of them are psychopaths as it is."

"I know for sure Damian is staying as well, R.D.. I'm sure his fighting abilities will serve when or if the time comes. I'd be more than happy to have you here, as for the other more mental Alphas, well, they know we're not the enemy, so I'm not too worried about them."
Over near Zack and Josh, Damian, a boy of not even eleven walked in. Shadows were layered under his eyes giving him a tired look. He was out of the prisoner's uniform and into a small outfit of his own, his right hand now covered by a glove. "They say Kuro has been completely destroyed, but Awai's shot could have been deflected and Kuro could have escaped. It's impossible to say at this point, so there's no point in complaining about it. I must ask though, on behalf of my sister, will you be staying?" Damian said this last to Joshua, already having overheard Riul's conversation.

"Heh," R.D. chuckled, laughing lightly. "Are you kidding? Your kid brother? Most people here consider him an ally of the Big K, you know. People get labeled all the time for just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. No, Riul, you're gonna need more than just Damian's help."

"Damian is not all pure in and holy, R.D.. I'm well aware. Kuro was sort of his mentor in the last days before capture. The only thing Kuro had over Damian was age, you'd be surprised how close they were in likeness. Besides, a Beta or two could best an Alpha. Just because we were all locked up doesn't make us invincible. Like I said though, I intend to try and get all the help I can get."

"So how do you start?" R.D. said, putting his hands on his hips, smirking. "You're too young. You're smart, sure, but you know nothing of management and crap like that. My suggestion to you is to find some of the adults and have them help you take care of the day to day crap. You'll also need to figure out someone to guide the others into defending our turf. You know as well as I do that the Americans aren't gonna just let Sanguix go."

"Do you have some people suggestions?" Riul asked, slightly bothered now by R.D.'s persistent hinting she would fail.

"Well, that's a bit of an upper.", Joshua said to Damian when he'd asked his question. "Yeah, I'll be staying. Not much else I could do." Zackarias simply nodded at Damian, and after a bit of a pause said, "Yeah, me too." Then once again walking off. This time he headed down for the old Alpha Storage Facility, not quite sure what it was being used for now.
Seemed it was being used for... nothing. The place was pretty much abandoned. Zackarias crept around a bit, not really expecting to find anything. When suddenly... "Boo." came a voice suddenly, causing Zack to nearly leap out of his skin. It was Vincent, laughing his butt off at his scared cousin. Vince too, was on the side of Kuro.
Meanwhile, with Riul, Krystal simply listened to what Riul and this other Alpha were speaking of. She didn't really have a place to say anything. But, she agreed that Riul would more than likely need help with being 'leader' of this group. And hopefully this Damian would be a good enough of a help.

"Of course," R.D. said confidently, "Who the hell do you think I am?"
He motioned for the two girls to follow him. "Let's see... Carver and Cole have military training, I think, so they'd be good to lead the defense forces. Dunno where they're at, though, they're both loners according to the other kids. The adults would also be good at managing the day-to-day stuff, like taking care of the younger kids. Oh, and I'm sure the mothers who were separated from their children will want their families returned..."
R.D. went off, continuing listing some ideas he had while he lead the two of them. He certainly hoped they were taking note of this. "And finally... well, apparently the Europeans used some mall nearby as a base of operations for their raid. I dunno about you, but I think it'd be good to go secure that and get some clothes for everybody. I'm tired of all this gray."

"Beats me. Its kinda boring around here," he said, putting his hands behind his back in a relaxed manner. "But, you know, I don't really relish the idea of getting shot."
