Laura paused a moment to think, "Doesn't it? The question was half to herself, but she continued. "No, I suppose it doesn't... Oh well, it's the safest and quickest way to travel for civilians like ourselves. We could at least take it to Newdam; that port has enough trade that I'm sure it would go down to Rogueport. Well, there is that division going on, but I don't think it should effect trade too much at this point in time. There's no super large city in Cher Plek, but maybe the Calmwaters stops somewhere down there. From there it's another boat or land travel, whichever is quicker I guess.
Laura was surprised she hadn't thought that through though; it seemed that she would normally have figured that out by now. The fellow's story was a tad distracting, however.

"Well yeah, pretty much," Shifter said, shifting his weight back onto one leg. "The real problem is finding someone willing to ferry you there, and having the means to pay them. I'm doing okay on currency, but I don't know about the two of you."

Nodding absentmindedly, Laura collected herself, readying to begin the travel that could very well change her life and if not hers, then the life of one of her companions. It would be an adventure and hopefully it wouldn't have too many sour twists like in every novel that displayed these types of heroics taking place with the jumbled group of scattered people combining forces with one another. The cruise could take a few days or maybe even a week or two, it had been some time since she had ridden it. "I do a lot of reading, I'm sure I can come up with some sort of money solution when that comes by. Until then I have enough to keep us going for a time."
Turning her head back to Joe with a smile she questioned him sincerely once last time, "Is there anything you need to do before we go? If not we can just go right ahead to the boat. If there's anything you need to do, we'll meet you on the ship. It leaves at first light tomorrow morning as I recall, should be plenty of time to gather any possessions or whatever." Joe listened as the two friends spoke. His heart grew heavy as he realized that the journey was going to be more difficult than they'd originally thought. Laura's question broke through his near-frantic mind, "do I need to get anything?" he thought to himself. He nodded to the pair standing in front of him, "I have to pick up my weapons and armor. And make another quick stop." He answered quietly. "Don't worry about me, I'll meet you two at the boat in a few hours."
He bowed politely to Laura and her friend, then walked quickly down the stairs, almost falling from the sheer speed at which he moved. He understood that it was going to be a long trip, full of hazards and unsavory characters. But he'd never backed down from anything before, and he knew that he would never give up on his love. "I'll find you." He whispered, his voice barely above a whisper. "And Heaven help the man or monster that gets in my way."
