 The Epsilon Rules
« Thread Started on May 28, 2007, 3:37am »

The Epsilon Rules may be subject to change. As such, you may need to check them from time to time to see if anything has been changed. Really big changes will often be put up as announcements on the boards.

General Rules:

No Spamming – SPAM stands for ‘Short Pointless Annoying Messages’. Posting several short messages in a row, making only short messages without any goal (answering only "Yes", "Me too", "LOL", etc), making the same post or topic in several forums, making pointless messages, etc. is considered SPAM, and is not tolerated. Abusive use of the private messenging system falls into the category of spam too. Massive use of smilies in also frowned upon. Warnings may be made, so don't be too afraid of breaking this rule without knowing it.

Double Posting - Double Posting is inherently forbidden. There are only a *few* occasions on which it shall be allowed, namely when posting Techniques or Character profiles and it doesn't fit into one post, or in the Fan Art topic if said topic is only about *your* art.

Multiple Accounts – Multiple Accounts are allowed if you want to create a character to use only on that account. However, please have it made clear that you are using multiple accounts, otherwise you may lose one of your accounts. (So don’t go try to act as if you are multiple people, because you’re going to be found sooner or later.) However, don’t go and make a hellish amount of accounts with one character for each. We’d prefer for you to have more than one character per account and a small amount of accounts, or even just one account.

Mark Your Spoilers – If you are talking about a movie, a game or a book, be sure to give a warning that you are going to post spoilers. If you make a thread about a new movie/game/book, put as a subtitle “Spoilers ahead” or another clear signification that there may be spoilers in the thread to warn others. Allow several months before believing it's safe to stop marking spoilers. Not everyone gets through a new game in 2 weeks. Some people really hate learning of the plot or detail of a movie/game/book before having seen/played/read it.

No Arguments – Come on... We're here to have fun, not to get at each other's throats. If you can't get along with another user, please keep it in private. We don't want to hear about it. Also, be sure to stay polite toward everyone. Don't make insults toward other cultures or religions. Repetitive offensing posts will result in a quick ban. Discussion is fine, alright, and even encouraged, but don’t take it too far or too personal.

Appropriate Content – The site is for everyone, and minors can very well be viewing those pages, so use content meant for a general audience only. Inappropriate content will deserve a warning, an edit or a deletion, depending of the offence, and may even lead to a ban if repeated.

Correct Grammar/Spelling – Though you’ll be forgiven if you make a small mistake here and there from time to time, it is quite frustrating for others if they need to decipher something that seems more like mumbo-jumbo than actual English. Other “languages” such as Netspeak or l33t or whatever are only allowed in minor proportions, and only OOC. If you can only type out stuff in that way, you best find something else to do, or get a course in English language, which is the number one language used here.

Signatures – Don’t have signatures that stretch the width of the board by a lot. Keep the width under 600 and the height under 400 please.

Bugging Staff Members – DO NOT PM Staff members to ask if they will go look at your character sheet or your new weapon or technique registration thread. We'll get to it sooner or later, don't worry! Plus, don't PM us, leaving us comments like "Oh, I noticed you changed your name" or "Im bored, so yeah." That is very annoying, and it fills up our inbox with an overload of pointless PMs. Leave us alone unless its VERY urgent, and your question cannot be answered by looking on the other boards. Of course, if it is something you wish to discuss with a Staff member that has nothing to do with “I want to have this accepted” or SPAMmy things, then that is fine. This rule also goes for the cbox.

Role-Playing Rules:

No God-Moding – You cannot be super-powerfull and beat everyone all the time, no matter how 'good' or 'evil' you are. Also, you cannot post something like "And Bob lifted his arm, before he smashed Alex, sending him flying into a wall 20 feet away." when you are playing as the character Bob (neither when you are Alex). You may not take control of someone else's character in such a way. Rather, post something like "And Bob lifted his arm with the intention to smash Alex."

Technique Use - To prevent the former from happening and someone totally overpowering someone else when the other is stronger rank-wise, Super Techniques may each only be used ONCE in every thread. Techniques have no set limit, but keep that real. Also, use no more than TWO techniques per post, and no more than ONE Super Technique per post. This means that in a post where your character uses a Super Technique, he or she may not use another Technique.

Cursing, etc. Appropriate Content in RPing – Things like cursing and such are allowed in the RP threads here on Epsilon, but please keep it to a minimum. Mature content will not be allowed, least ye wish not to be banned. Rather, if you really feel that you cannot go without that, try and request a Mature board.

Character Rules:

Character Limits - There are some limitations on the amount of techniques, super techniques, etc. a character can have, shown in the character sheet thread. Also, we will only allow a limited amount of Beta-ranked characters, and if you wish for your character to be Alpha-ranked, you must ask permission first, because if you do not, it is sure to be declined ASAP. Also, the maximum number of non-Mirror-Me characters you are allowed to have is 10, unless you try and make a lot of characters on a short notice, or have RPed very, very little with the last couple of characters you’ve made. Also, you are allowed TWO canon characters.
Also, you need to put a certain word in the profiles you make, the rulez pazzwurd, so to speak. For now, that word is "killerbeesandbumbletrees".

Techniques - There are some limits on the amount of techniques a character may have, depending on rank, which can be found in the Character Profile Template thread. Also, a character, if not based around the art of healing, may have no more than TWO healing techniques. Characters based around healing must have roughly 30% of their techniques healing-based.

Weapons - Like with techniques, weapons also have their limits. We don't have a set limit to their amount, as long as a character can all carry them with themselves (and not just keep them in a pocket dimension "Inventory" of some kind, 'cause then it could turn unfair in a battle). Also, weapons may not be invincible or indestructable or have no weaknesses. I'll allow Artefacts to be indestructable, but then they also need to have appropriate weaknesses and limits on their powers. If you want certain techniques to only be used with a certain weapon or artefact, then first register those, and put the links to their sheets in the weapon/artefact sheet under "abilities", and state that those techniques only may be used with that weapon/artefact.

Approval Time - The time we allow a character/technique/artefact sheet to go unedited after the Staff has requested an edit, you have no more than seven days to edit it.

Advertising Rules:

Advertising – If you want to advertise on Epsilon, you can do that in the Advertising board. You can say whatever you like as long as it doesn’t involve excessive swearing, and as long as you actually give a URL.

Affiliating – If you want your site to be affiliated wit Epsilon, then you can go to the Advertising board and post in the “Affiliation” thread.

As a little note, Editing means things done after you post the sheet. Soreally, you're better off doing the sheet fully on your computer, then putting it up on here to have us look it over and request edits. It would work better for everyone.
